Garagiste Festival Adds New Event, "The Opening Round"; 64 Winemakers to Pour During Festival: Tickets Now On Sale

Paso Robles, CA (PRWEB) August 12, 2013

The Garagiste Festivals today announced "The Opening Round," a brand new tasting event joining the line-up of the 2013 Garagiste Festival in Paso Robles, which will be held from November 7th – 10th. Bringing the total number of garagiste* winemakers pouring hand-crafted, high quality wines during the festival to 64, "The Opening Round" showcases 15 outstanding artisan winemakers from across California. The event will be held at Atascadero's Pavilion on the Lake on Friday, November 8th.

The Festival also announced two new Southern California "Taste of Garagiste" mini-tastings at The Petersen Automotive Museum and Sonoma Wine Garden in August, featuring winemakers who will be pouring at the November festival. Tickets are now on sale for the festival and "Taste of Garagiste" events at http://www.garagistefestival.com .

"The garagiste movement is growing by leaps and bounds, and the interest in the festival is so high that we wanted to increase the number of top-notch and, in many cases, undiscovered winemakers pouring this year – but without sacrificing the signature intimacy of the Garagiste Festival experience. So, we created 'The Opening Round'," said Doug Minnick, co-founder of The Garagiste Festival. "This new Friday event gets the festival tasting off to a perfect start, and at a beautiful new venue. Leading into our popular "Shiners, Samples, and Secrets" winemaker mixer, "The Opening Round" offers attendees an intimate and leisurely opportunity to discover new winemakers, as well as to catch up with some crowd favorites from our Southern Exposure event in the Santa Ynez Valley."

Wineries pouring at "The Opening Round" include: Archium Cellars, Ascension Cellars, Barton Family, Casa Dumetz, Cholame Vineyard, DuBost Winery, Frequency Wines, Michael Gill Cellars, Pence Ranch, PlanB Cellars, Sea Shell Cellars, Turiya Wines and Vinemark Cellars. "The Opening Round" will be held from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

"Taste of Garagiste" – So Cal Edition

Following on the heels of very successful "Taste of Garagiste" events at Wood and Vine in Hollywood and The Wine Lab in Costa Mesa, the festival announces two new "Taste of Garagiste" events in Southern California, with more to come. Featuring winemakers who are pouring at the November festival, "Taste of Garagiste" events introduce new audiences to garagiste winemakers, and offer a delicious preview of some of the fabulous wines that will be poured in November.

"The demand for a taste of garagiste wines is growing in Southern California," continued Minnick. "So, we must comply! From an automotive museum to a West LA rooftop, these new "Taste of Garagiste" events promise unique, new wine discoveries and tastings in terrific venues, which is our festival signature – and there are more to come, so be sure to sign up for our newsletter, The Dirt, for the latest news!"

*Garagistes (gar-uh-zhē-stuh) is a term originally used in the Bordeaux region of France to denigrate renegade small-lot wine makers, sometimes working in their "garages" (anything considered not a chateau), who refused to follow the "rules," and is now a full-fledged movement responsible for making some of the best wine in the world.
