How much my TOMS shoes stretch?

I got a pair of TOMS Canvas women's shoes from Nordstrom today and they are extremely tight on my feet. They are sort of hard to get on and are especially snug around the center of my foot. The sales lady insisted that they'd stretch but i'm worried they won't stretch enough. How much have your TOMS stretched? Were they uncomfortable before? Thanks for the help, guys!
