Why is it women are treated differently then men?

I probably sound like a feminist here, but besides physically, where women and men are obviously different, women are sometimes not respected and their intelligence isn't trusted like a mans would be. Why is this?

That's a question for every individual to ask and answer themselves. I think my sisters are very intelligent. I believe my niece will be anything she puts her mind to...because she's book smart and socially smart as well. I have a female family doctor, and I think she's brilliant! Now you say that sometimes women aren't respected...but do you believe that men are always respected? I just recently saw a youtube video from England where two teen boys were scrapping, one had to stop because he was hurt...and it was girls who moved in and harassed him. One girl touched his head with the bottom of her shoe...they were taunting him, mocking him, and when he spoke up and told them to shut up, he had some goof pipe up and say "you should respect the ladies." HA! See, this is where I have a problem with opinions like yours: I don't disagree with you that some men do not respect women or trust their intellect... ...however I know for a fact that there are also some women who do not respect some men or trust our intellect either. If you don't speak out against they both, you have no right to speak out against either! As for the "why" component to your question...the problem is that not everyone is of the same mind, so there is no one or two reasons why SOME do not respect women/men or trust the intellect of women/men. @ HappyGothGirl: Actually, media manipulation works both ways...which is why Mothers are afforded plenty of respect in society, and Fathers are regarded as not important in raising a child! And if you pay attention on here...there are plenty of feminist women who reinforce that notion time and again!

why are women pressured to look beautiful whereas guys just roll out of bed and look for their shoes?

and men are said to age better, but women are much more beautiful creatures and they take care of themselves better too. why are women expected to do this? magazines with starving models, no meat at all on bones? uh, no thanks.

It's a very fair point to share here. I claim a feminist nature. Not all female people are the same. It is good to take care of your basic hygienic beauty, but when it comes to being a hard worker, a naturally and super naturally humanistic person, and the real important things in life, we are all here for the same reason. It's about what is inside for both ladies and also for gentlemen.
