What sort of boots/outfits do you wear out to bars when it's raining/freezing?

I need clothing essentials, shoes and outfit ideas for cold wet weather! I just moved to Washington from the desert! lol. Please recommend me things and tell me what you wear! Thanks! I am 25, if that helps!

I wear boots with either a skirt/dress and stockings or skinny jeans (sometimes normal jeans, if the boot is wide enough). If it's really slippery, I'll wear flats. If it's cold but not too slippery, I might wear heels. If it's something during the day, I wear rainboots--cute ones: they have some that look like they could pass for real boots! If I can find waterproof flat or heeled boots that don't look like rain boots, I snatch them up...otherwise I spray them with a sealant. Since you're in Washington, be careful of real suede and leather--you don't want them to get stained/messed up and end up throwing away money. I often get fake suede. What style of lace-up boots shall I buy?

I love the black military/combat boots but all my friends have them so I'd like something a little different but still with a similar style. Something work appropriate but a little alternative. Any suggestions?
