Your Questions About Court Shoes

Jenny asks…

Can I wear basketball shoes on a concrete court in the park?

I'm thinking about getting some shoes like the Fly Wade II or some really nice basketball shoes like that but I don't play on a team or anything, I just really like basketball and I go to the park about every day to play and the court over there is concrete, but I have other shoes that I'll wear to school and when I'm hanging out with friends.

Our pick of the answers:

Yes you can, I use to rock my jordan on black top during school yard, ultimate grip but shoes worn out pretty fast.

Donna asks…

Where to buy true high top court shoes?

I need padded leather uppers in something like Converse Chucks. Can't seem to find them, only modified mids that don't give any ankle support. Converse only seems to offer " fashion " canvas CTs. Help?

Our pick of the answers:

The best basketball shoe ever made was the original Air Jordan. The second generation Air Jordan, the next year, got everyone out of making real high tops which provide excellent ankle protection. I guess NBA teams like their players to have a lot of ankle injuries. As far as Chuch Taylors, when that company got sold, so did the concept of the old Chuch Taylors. I don't know if he was the last NBA player to wear Chuch Taylors; however, "Mr. K", former teammate of Dr. J at the Nets, in former San Antonio Spurs forward Larry Kenon (record for most steals in one NBA game) and a constant 20/10 player in scoring and rebounding seemingly wore Chuch Taylors into the 1980s while everyone else was wearing mainly Nike, etc... At the time.
