Why is it considered gay for men to wear womens clothes but not for women to wear mens clothes?

Why is it so wrong for men to wear dresses, skirts, girls jeans, shoes and shirts but when women wear mens jeans, shoes or shirts she is just considered as she is dressing down?

I guess its just a stance on fashion. Fashion for women seems to be more diverse and adopting of different trends then men's fashion. Though some men's fashion have feminine points too, it doesn't go as far as women's fashion (i,e some guys where skinny jeans and that's accepted).

Women: What are the first things that come into your head when you see a very well dressed man? Even if fat?

Does the man make the clothes, or do the clothes make the man? I'm in sales and there is constant debate about this... what do you think about a man when you walk into an office and he is wearing nice pressed slacks, with nice shoes, a button down, and smells nice... well groomed? Does your opinion change if that man is overweight? Would you be more likely to purchase something from either well dressed overweight man, or a sloppily dressed fit man?
