An Unforgettable Afternoon Of Southeast Asian Delights In Orlando

An Unforgettable Afternoon Of Southeast Asian Delights In Orlando

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) November 21, 2005

The warm sun, soft southern breeze, and the mouthwatering aroma of Southeast Asia's local flavors at Orlando's First Annual Tiger Beer Chili Crab Festival boil down to one thing: an exotic, bustling street festival experience for food and culture lovers from Orlando and around Florida.

Recently held at Orlando's Wall Street Plaza on November 12, the Tiger Beer Chili Crab Festival-Orlando attracted more than 2000 Orlandoans and neighboring locals to downtown Orlando. Co-hosted by Tiger Beer and Wall Street Plaza, this event is a replica of a Singapore-style street fair of authentic finger foods, local beer and vocal and action entertainment for all ages.

"This is a really good turn-out and a great cultural event! Wall Street Plaza is rather known for its night-time entertainment and late night events, so we were pleasantly surprised to see so many folks down here at 4 p.m.!" said Graham Jarett of the Orlando Weekly, the leading alternative lifestyle newspaper in Central Florida.

Even before the official kick off at 4:00 pm, there were already enthusiasts who had arrived early for front row seating for the festival at Wall Street Plaza. After the vividly robust Lion Dancers (known auspiciously for luck and happiness) and powerful Kung Fu demonstrations, friends and families quickly packed the street stalls for plates of enticing Asian food, which most were lured by the spicy, sweet and pungent aroma of the chili crabs and glistening bottles of Tiger Beer beckoning from iced buckets.

Originated from Singapore where Tiger Beer is from, the Singapore Chili Crab is a famous island delicacy cooked in sweet and fiery gravy made from fresh red chilies, tomato sauce, peppers, soy, ginger, garlic, onions, lime, lemongrass and cilantro. Festival attendees were eagerly peeling off spiced crab meat from shells, scooping heavy chili crab gravy with slices of French baguette into

their mouths. Several attendees who are familiar with Singapore also approved of the festival's version of chili crabs as pleasingly authentic and many applauded the "cultural coolness" of the event.

"We've been eating and drinking for more than four hours and still can't get enough of it. There aren't many cultural events in Orlando, so we're really excited about experiencing this event. This Tiger Beer Chili Crab Fest feels truly unique to us." exclaimed Orlandoan John Burrill.

Attendee Jesper Knudsen, resident of Longwood, FL, also agreed "It's an interesting variety of crowd here with a really unique mix of people from families of the ethnic Asian neighborhoods to cool hipsters."

Festival goers also helped themselves to the many fresh servings of Vegetable Spring Rolls, Plump Pork Pot Stickers, and Tiger Prawns. Amidst the exciting line-up of tempting massage services, exhilarating Muay Thai Kickboxing demonstrations, outrageous Sushi TV-style wrestling, and beat-pumping live music, attendees were especially thrilled with the performance highlight of all: the hypnotic "White Tiger", an exotic contortionist who spellbounded the crowd with her "Cirque Du Soleil" style feats.

Also introduced at this festival is Tiger Beer's Iron Wok Competition. Local kitchens competed for the best sauce for the Tiger Prawn dish and even though results were neck-to-neck, the crowd's unanimous pleaser was the 'Wasabi-Coconut' sauce from The Globe, Orlando's downtown club known for its Pan-Asian cuisine and never-ending parties.

According to Sean Davis, Market Development Manager, Tiger Beer USA, "We want to use this festival as a way of showing avid Tiger Beer fans our appreciation, and also reach out to new beer customers through our Tiger Beer Chili Crab Fest. We are not any Asian or foreign beer company -- Tiger Beer is an internationally award-winning brew that's not only noted for its quality, but also the quality of experience the consumer gets from drinking Tiger Beer. Tiger Beer is about good taste and good times, and partnering with Wall Street Plaza on this festival allows us to create just that!"

"I've just heard from an attendee that she didn't think much of beers, that is until she had her first Tiger a while ago… and she loves it! This is exactly the response we are looking for in executing our unique Tiger Beer events tailored for each market," added Davis.

Caitlin Van Doorhis, Marketing Manager, Wall Street Plaza, also acknowledged the success of this cooperative partnership, "This is definitely a good event for us. Most of the people who came down to this festival don't always frequent Wall Street. The introduction of this festival has brought an original energy to the place and we are extremely happy that chili crabs and Tiger Beer have brought in new customers for Wall Street Plaza."

The next Tiger Beer Chili Crab Festival-Orlando will be held again in Fall 2006 at Wall Street Plaza. For more information about Tiger Beer, the New York and Orlando Tiger Beer Chili Crab Fests 2006, please log on to http://www.TigerBeer.us for more information.
