Our pick of the answers:
Virginia doesn't have a blade length. It's about what kind of knife it is. Daggers, Bowie knives, switchblades and straight razors are illegal to carry concealed, but can be carried openly. Switchblades are illegal to own. Period. Just having on in your house is Class 4 misdemeanor. You mentioned it is an OTF stiletto. "Stiletto" just means a long skinny blade (it is Latin for "pen"), but if it's a switchblade (blade opens when you press a button or slider) then you are breaking not only state law by having it, but Federal law by ordering it from out of state. Knives are complete crap for self-defense anyway because they have no stopping power (attackers do not feel a stab right away). Get some pepper spray and a good flashlight. Maybe a larger folding knife, but only as a last resort.
