Choose a lower height first like about 2-3 inches. They should neither be too tight nor too loose. You can get used to them faster if you get something you like that fits well from the start. Wear them around the house on non-slippery floors until you get used to them. If you're not used to them choose something like boots first since they have better ankle support. One good way to get used to them better also is wear them in a supermarket - push the cart around to help keep your balance and not stand out. Keep your head up and looking forward - don't walk watching your feet all the time. There are also many videos on Youtube that can help you also. You should master it in no time. These days there are 8 or 9 year old girls wearing 2" heels to special occasions, so don't sweat it.
