Laura asks…
Is owning a stiletto knife legal in Canada?
I know walking around with one is illegal but im a collector of weapons and want to order a stiletto online. its a 4 inch blade wich i know is also over the legal limit but this will be kept in my home at all times. will i get hastled by cops for buying this? also if i ordered it would they even know whats in the package in the first place and be able to check or wouldnt that be illegal for them to do.
Our pick of the answers:
If it is a switchblade (a folding knife with a spring loaded blade that pops open when you press a button or slider), yes technically it is illegal to order it and keep it, even at home, due to Canadian law. Granted, the customs service cannot search all packages entering the country and knives are not typically red flags, so it's possible you could order and "get away with it" but you do so at your own risk. Now if it is a REAL stiletto, it is legal to buy and keep so long as you don't carry. See, people misuse the term "stiletto" a lot. The word actually refers to a fixed-blade dagger with a slender, spike-like blade. For some reason people use this term to refer to switchblades, especially "Out The Front" ones, but this is incorrect usage.
Lisa asks…
For a stiletto auto knife is it better a bayonet or a dagger blade?
I am a knife collector and I am purchasing my first milano stiletto auto knife. I discovered that they are two types of blades, the bayonet and the dagger and I don't know which one to choose.
Our pick of the answers:
If you're a collector, what would stop you from purchasing both types of blades? That way, you can say this is the stiletto auto knife with bayonet blade, and over here is the stiletto auto knife with dagger blade. It's the best of both worlds.
