Your Questions About Heels

Helen asks…

How old should you be to start wearing heels casually?

I love heels but Im too young for them. Hahah Would wearing heels when youre like 17 okay if you wear them everyday? Is it weird to wear heels to high school?

Our pick of the answers:

It's all about confidence. If you wear heels but look shy or insecure, they will laugh at you. But if you walk like a queen and answer the naysayers with a "so what?", boys will love you and girls will not dare open their mouths.

Mandy asks…

What is the difference between heels and flats?

I am writing a paragraph comparing and contrasting heels and flats, and need a little help.

Our pick of the answers:

It's all mostly been covered (i.e. Flats are, uh, flat and all), but there is one important point regarding heels, other than the pain they inflict. When you wears heels, it changes your posture. Generally, you stand straighter, the back arches slightly and your butt sticks out a little. Also, the heels produce an illusion of a longer leg. I don't know what you're writing about specifically, but you could do a feminist analysis and draw comparisons to footbinding in china - both practices impeded women's movement and damaged their physical health in service of making them more alluring to men.
