Your Questions About High Heels For Men

Laura asks…

Why do women think that men find high heels sexy?

I think they're silly.

Our pick of the answers:

Because most men find high heels to be sexy. I am a man. Most men and women I have talked about this, agree that high heels are sexy, and the woman find that the heels make the feel sexy. It may be silly, but it is attractive for some.

Sharon asks…

Who invented high heeled shoes for men? who wore them first? how high (how many centimeters) were them?

Our pick of the answers:

It is now known who invented high heels exactly. They date back to pre-Christian times. Egyptian butchers wore high heels to raise them above the carnage, and Mongolian horseman had heeled boots for gripping their stirrups firmly. In Ancient Greece actors - all men, women were not allowed to act, boys played women's roles - wore high heeled footwear, cothurnus, to be seen further on. Then they became fashion through all medieval ages till the age of industrial revolution. About 15 century they were all rage in Italy, and they say that Catherine de Medicis brought heels from Florence to Paris for her marriage to the Duke d'Orleans. The style was immediately set forth by ladies from the French court. From them it spread to men. 17 and 18 century were crazy about them. The brother of Lou XIV, Philippe D'Orlean, was very short in statue and constantly wore them. Once he was chided about his height, (he expressed the desire to be a king of England, and his wife said he'd be too short for a King), he ordered his shoemaker to make his heels even taller, to match his brother, the king of France, in height. Louis XIV found it out, and made his heels even higher, so when they met again, Philippe still looked small! Back then men tended to be dressed as showy as women, wearing lace and diamonds, rich fabrics like gold cloth and velvet. They "borrowed" high heels as well. They used perfume and make up, too.
