Your Questions About Heels Over Head

Betty asks…

Why do we say "head over heels" in love?

After all, our heads are normally above our heels. Why isn't the phrase "heels over head"?

Our pick of the answers:

Head over heels is a term expressing excitement, like verbally turning cartwheels. Head over heels is now most often used as part of "head over heels in love." When first coined it referred exclusively to being temporarily the wrong way up. It is one of the many phrases used to describe things that are not in their usual state such as, upside-down, topsy-turvy, azz over tin cups, backasswards etc. Http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/head-over-heels.html

Sandy asks…

Our pick of the answers:

This song is the best! It actually made me dance when I heard and and then when I listened to the actual lyrics I was like, aww. It reminds me of Remembering Sunday by All Time Low. Give that a listen if you like Heels Over Head.
