Carol asks…
how to store patent leather shoes?
Hi, I bought an expensive pair of patent leather nude pumps but I won't be wearing them everyday. I will wear them occasionally but I don't know how to store them properly. I had a patent leather black nine west shoe that went bad after 6 years. I know it sounds like a long time but I wore it only 4 or 5 times in all those years. It really doesn't seem like it's worth buying a pair of shoes for 100+ bucks and wearing it only a few times until the leather cracks and the shoe is damaged beyond the point of repair. I know I should stuff my shoes with paper and make sure the shoe doesn't touch anything but my shoe has a T-Strap and it's already creasing and getting wrinkled at the beginning of the T-Strap. I don't want them getting cracked. Please help. Thanks in advance.
Our pick of the answers:
I once had a pair of black/cream patent leather high heels and I simply kept the shoe box I had purchased them in, kept tissue paper stuffed in the shoes and stored them in the box. Also, my mother showed me how to apply a small amount of Vaseline with a soft cloth to the shoe to keep them soft and from cracking. I know ex military members who kept their uniform dress shoes stored this way. Just remember to NEVER get them wet or allow any moisture on them.
