Linda asks…
How successful will internet clothes shopping be considering you can't try before you buy?
I don't see how it's caught on and more and more clothes shops in the UK are closing down because they're only selling online, which I can't do as I need to try on the clothes first and also the colours aren't going to be true online!! Womens clothes shopping is difficult enough as it is in an actual shop because every brand and style will fit at a different size. Plus with shoes, how the hell you can buy shoes online I don't understand considering again, every make fits differently and certain styles. How is it going this way!? Is this how it's all going to be? Or do you think it will go back to the "old fashioned" ways of shopping where you get to actually hold and look at the garment and try it on?

Our pick of the answers:
It stands to reason that the advent of 'visual controllers' [like eye toy & kinect] for consoles which already have internet connectivity and plenty of hard drive space, means there will be an app to match the browser/in-store utility http://www.hm.com/gb/dressingroom/ , whereby, in more - personal - detail, a person is photographed from all sides and a virtual 3-dimensional model of them is made so they are able to see themselves wearing clothes without even trying them on - having this at home ought to be a sure-fire money spinner for the retailer, especially as almost 100% of purchases should be deemed a fit and the customer has already tried it on - the store can hold more stock with fewer customers through the door, perhaps make that on an appointment basis too and employ fewer staff or for less time. It's like all the technology is there, and you could even rent equipment to get the model made because it would all be on the browser after that initial shoot..., it's not quite here in the 'mainstream' though, yet. Right about feeling the fabric though, both texture and weight are factors, but any community hall could host an event where people go look at swatches of new fabrics and examples of garments - phone apps again could save your ratings and synchronising this almost competes the experience without the trek to the high street. I'm still going to try make it into town next week though, I use both visiting the shops and online purchasing - both have their merits.
