Sandy asks…
How can I accessorize my school uniform?
Our uniform is a navy blue or plain white polo shirt (you can choose) with khaki or tan bottoms (skirts, pants, or shorts. shortest is one inch above the knee) and any shoes, but heels can only be one inch. I want to add a pop of color somewhere but without being too girly and too crazy. Any colors that would look good with navy blue? Probably anything right? Its senior year and I want to try something new.
Our pick of the answers:
The nautical look is very cool at the moment, you could go for a gold embellished white waist belt to go over your navy shirt, or you could just get a little gold coloured brooch. Apart from that, statement earrings that catch the eye, gold coloured would go well with navy, as would silver, or coloured earrings with the white. Hair accessories are always a good way to get round uniforms-a statement alice band, or you could even try something different with your hair to make a change. If you plan on wearing the white top with khaki shorts, you can even go for a brighlty coloured narrow belt to dress it up a little. Red, Navy, even metallic gold would dress it up, depending how much you want to go for it.
Linda asks…
How long will it take for my blister to heal?
Ok, so I just got new cleats for softball. I have a blister about the size of a penny on the ball of my foot (like an inch below my big toe). The skin on top of it tore off, and I put NewSkin on it. It burned like crazy. Was that a bad choice on my part? Or will it help it heel faster? I practice every day and they are the only cleats I have.
Our pick of the answers:
A blister takes anywhere from a couple of days to a week or so to heal. Make sure that you keep the area clean. You can do this by gently washing it with a mixture of half antibacterial liquid soap and half warm water. You need to decide if you want to just let it heal on its own or if you want to drain the blister. If at all possible let it heal by itself, but the location of your blister might make that impossible. If you decide to drain it you have to sterilize a needle either with boiling water or with alcohol. Then very carefully insert the needle into the side of the blister, close to the bottom of it. Be careful not to push the needle into your flesh. This will allow the fluid to drain, but leave the skin of the blister intact. It will continue to protect the tissue underneath. You can then protect the area with a light gauze bandage o r by using one of the special products for blisters you can get at the drug store - moleskin or gel pads. You will find them in the foot care section and/or in the first aid section. It is a good idea to leave it open to the air as much as you can. Clean it everyday. Watch it for signs of infection, which include fever, nausea, increasing soreness and redness, pus, red streaks coming from the wound, hot to touch. You might want to see your doctor if it gets infected.
