I plan to transfer to a four year school starting January of 2013 (spring semester of 2013). Do I need to fill out my FAFSA differently for this year, or do I wait until next years FAFSA? If I do have to make a change, do I just list the college I will be transferring to along side my community college, or is their some special part of the form involving transfers to another school?

I'm going to register for my classes tomorrow. I applied for fafsa and it said I could recieve a $5000 grant. I havn't recieved any money from it and I think I have to pay fees tomorrow but I'm broke.. Does the Fafsa info just automatically go to the school to which I'm applying to? Do I have to pay right then and there or just before the semester starts? (Semester starts in a few weeks and its a community college btw) thanks.

You ARE NOT too late! If you already filled out your FAFSA for the 2012-2013 fiscal year & it said that you could receive a $5000 grant then all you need to do is go to your selected school & take testing so you can register for classes. I'm a student right now & when I log into my school email account , there is an announcement on the board that says "Haven't filled out the FAFSA for Spring 2012? It's not too late!". The school will be able to pull up the info that you submitted on your FAFSA; the school does not get paid the grant money until after the add/drop period, which is usually 2-3 weeks after class starts. Contact admissions &/or the financial aid office; they'll tell you what steps to take. You should be able to enroll.

You probably already know this, but Forever 21 has a special store called Twelve by Twelve, whic h you can shop online and is more of a glammed-up look at a good price: http://www.forever21.com/twelve/default.asp You should definitely look around for some good stores. I'm not a fan of the first one. However I really like the last 2. The Jessica Simpson shoe would make the dress look a little more casual, but also looks like it would be more comfortable especially to dance in. I bet you would get more use out of these ones also, as they woul d look great with jeans or business wear. The silver Guess shoes are just the opposite - more dressy and probably will make your feet hurt. You probably couldn't reuse these as often - only for formal occasions with dresses. I would suggest trying each of them on first and at least walking around the store before you commit to one. It that's not possible and these are only available online, (and I've done this before) if you have the money - buy both, try each of them on with the dress - and send back the one you don't like. (I think one of them even said free shipping and free return shipping!)

How competitive should I be for CG OCS in about 2 years when I graduate with my bachelors? B.S. in Geology from SUNY Potsdam GPA is about 3.2, Ive been on the dean s list for two semesters. 2 years of AFROTC- I wasnt selected for more training because of all the military cuts plus the fact that I am not a tech major the AF was looking for. I can still get a good letter of recommendation from the commandant of cadets at my old detachment. Lifeguard Eagle Scout I am starting to do triathlons Hopefully becoming a volunteer firefighter or EMT this year. I will be applying for OCS in about 2 years, when should I really begin the application process? Being a CG officer is something Ive wanted to do for a long time, and I would love to stay in the reserves for the full 20 after the active time. thanks for any info/ advice! Thanks for those that have already posted. I have a good amount of leadership experience from ROTC and i feel that I can draw on that during an interview. This is something I:m very passionate about, so are there any specific recommendations you can give me to help build a solid application. Once again, thanks for the answers/tips.

Your GPA is pretty low for USCG OCS - the average is about 3.6 and higher (depending on the class). Do you have any leadership experience, like Captain of the team or President of the Club? Eagle Scout will help - lots. You can't apply until you have met the requirements - which means you have to have your degree in hand. OCS is VERY competitive - we only accept 10-15% of all applicants - and many of the accepted folks are repeat applicants. The highest number of repeat applications I have heard of is a guy that was picked up on his EIGHTH attempt - and he was just selected for O-4, so he's done well for himeself. Don't get discouraged if you don't get selected. Check out the Direct Commission info on our Recruiting website (http://www.gocoastguard.com) and see if you could get a job and experience and possibly get a commission that way. I know a guy that had two applications in - OCS _AND_ Direct Commission at the same time - he was selected for OCS, attended and was commissioned - then his DC packet was selected - and he was "promoted" to Lieutenant after being an Ensign for about two months... The President was briefed in the Oval Office this afternoon by a number of senior officials including Department of Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano, Admiral Thad Allen, United States Coast Guard Commandant, Department of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, EPA Deputy Administrator Bob Perciasepe, FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate as well as a host of senior white house officials including Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change Carol Browner, Chair of Council on Environmental Quality Nancy Sutley and Direc tor of the National Economic Council Lawrence Summers. The United States Coast Guard informed the President that search and rescue efforts are ongoing. The President made sure that the entire federal government was offering all assistance needed in the rescue effort as well as in mitigating and responding to the environmental impact and that this response was being treated as the number one priority. The President asked the responding departments to devote every resource needed to respond to this incident and investigate its cause. The National Response Team has been activated and Unified and Area Commands have been established near New Orleans to coordinate search and rescue operations and oil spill response efforts. The Department of the Interior and the Minerals Management Service as well as the Coast Guard are also working with responsible parties to support their important efforts to secure the pollution sources. Deputy Secretary of the Interior David Hayes was dispatched to the region yesterday to assist with coordination and response. The President wishes to thank the bravery of the professionals across the government who have worked non-stop over the last two days to save lives and protect the environment. The rig exploded at 10 pm on the 20th.
