Your Questions About Heels

Laura asks…

How do I get my high heels to be more comfortable?

I am good at walking in heels untill my feet start hurting. I bought the gelly insoles but they didnt really work. Should I just start walking in them more so my feet canget used to them or what?

Our pick of the answers:

Practice more..and don't buy cheap heels....I wear 4" heels every day, the cheap ones bend in the arch support......

Mandy asks…

How do I keep my heels from popping out of the back of my shoes?

I just bought a pair of platform heels. they were the smallest size that comfortable fit on my feet, and I'm trying to practice walking around the house in them but the heels of the shoes keep slipping off the back of my feet. Is this because the shoes are too big and I need to put something in them? or is there a trick to walking in heels I don't know?

Our pick of the answer s:

This can happens when the shoe is a bit big. I like to places one these pads at the ball of my foot. It pushes your foot back just a bit and can snug up the heel enough. Http://drscholls.com/drscholls/productSearch.do?method=doProductDetailsLookup&searchArg=5 There are also pads that can go along the heel to snug up you r shoe also but I find them more uncomfortable. Your Questions About Ladies Shoes For Men

Nancy asks…

What are hindu women personal hygiene ritual?

I am involved with a Hindu man and not Hindu. We have not consummated our relationship and therefore I would like to know more about what the personal hygiene i.e. before consumation, during menstruation, rituals, cleanliness, shaving, etc. and also what is acceptable and part of the culture.

Our pick of the answers:

Purity and its opposite, pollution, are vitally important in Hindu culture. Purity is of three forms -- purity in mind, speech and body, or thought, word and deed. P urity is the pristine and natural state of the soul. Impurity, or pollution, is the obscuring of this state by adulterating experience and beclouding conceptions. In daily life, the Hindu strives to protect this innate purity by wise living, following the codes of dharma. This includes harnessing the sexual energies, associating with other virtuous Hindu devotees, never using harsh, angered or indecent language, and keeping a clean and healthy physical body. Here are several ways purity is preserved in Hindu culture. Purity is central to food and nutrition, as the nature of one's nourishment deeply affects the entire physical, mental and emotional nature. One cooking food for others would never taste of the dish from a spoon and then put the spoon back in the pot. If food is to be tasted while cooking, a small portion is placed in the right hand. Similarly, one would not touch the lips to a water vessel that is also used by others. Nor would one offer something to another from which one has taken a bite or a sip. In Hindu culture the left hand is considered impure because it is used (with water) in the place of toilet paper for personal hygiene after answering the call of nature. Handing another person anything with the left hand may be considered a subtle insult. Shoes are considered impure. The cultured Hindu never wears shoes or sandals inside a temple or shrine, nor in his home or the homes of other Hindus. Carrying shoes in the hands from one part of the premises to another is also avoided. An ultimate insult is to be struck with a shoe. It is improper to sit with one's legs outstretched toward a temple, shrine or altar, or even toward another person. This is a grave insult. Crossing one leg over the knee when sitting in a chair should be avoided, though crossing at the ankles is permitted. One must always try to follow the example of traditional elders. Worshiping, meditating or sitting in the kneeling pose is not acceptable among Hindus. Interaction in public between men and women is much more restrained in Hindu culture than in Western culture. In Hindu culture, for the most part, men socialize with men, and women with women. Men never touch women in public unless the lady is very elderly or infirm. Married Hindu couples do not hug, hold hands or kiss in public. Even embracing at airports and train stations is considered not wise. Men, however, frequently walk hand in hand. Hindus strive to keep a pleasant expression on their face, a gentle smile and a kind word for everyone they meet through the day. They know in their heart of hearts that God is everywhere and that all in the universe is perfect at every point in time. This knowledge gives them strength and courage to face their daily karmas positively and graciously. During menstruation period, the lady is suppose to remain out of the Kitchen n esp.The Puja[worship] house. Earlier she was not allowed to touch anyone. But now this practice have become little llenient The lady of the house enters the kitchen only after she takes her bath n offering prayers to God.............

Linda asks…

Who would win in a battle? The Marshmallow man or the Green Vampire from Wizard of OZ?

The Marshmallow man has Goro on his side. Plus hes a very large dead guy. The Green Vampire has her midget Children and the shoes. It seems to be a good battle because the Vampire doesnt have the guns and Marshmallow man doesnt have acid to throw at the green lady. Who wins?

Our pick of the answers:

I dont recall a green vampire from Wizard of Oz, there was a green Witch.....

What shoes would look good with a black/ grey dress?

My dress is grey at the top and black at the bottom , I cant wear high heels , I would rather flats . Pictures would be great.

Our pick of the answers:

A bright color would look awesome so it would off set the dark colors. Yellow or red would look the best, in my opinion. Http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/21TWFf8qCML._AA160_.jpg

a red chinese dress, what shoes to wear with this?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/88556970@N05/8439942625/ this is the dress im thinking of wearing black high heeled shoes with red bottom and heels medium width heels or stilettos but i definately want something more unusual and more interesting and if i match the black butterfly bag in the photo with this, i want to avoid look too generic (y know butterfly...oriental... too common) so id really like a recommendation of other items that make the whole look not so typical also, what outer would you wear with this?

Our pick of the answers:

Your Questions About Ladies Shoes Wide

Nancy asks…

Volleyball shoes?!?!?

I need a pair of comfortable, affordable (nothing more then $50), supportive and overall a really good volleyball shoe. Any brands and styles and stores to get them? Thanks!

Our pick of the answers:

Well you have a very wide variety of volleyball shoes to choose from ranging anywhere from around $48-$156. Another thing you will have to consider will be where you would like to purchase them. At most sporting goods stores (Academy, Sports Authority) they should have the standard ASICS® Women's GEL-Rocket® 5 Volleyball Shoes for as I said around $48. Some specialty shoes stores have the Womens Nike Multicourt 10 (Lady Foot Locker carries these) which are closer to $50. If you are serious about volleyball and use your shoes correctly by only wearing them on the court better quality shoes may be more expensive but better in the long run. Some higher end volleyball shoes include the Mizuno brand-- the least expensive shoe they sell are $70, which are the Mizuno Women's Wave Rally 2 Volleyball Shoes. You can browse Mizunos website here (http://www.mizunousa.com/volleyball). Good Luck finding the perfect shoes!

Sandra asks…

What do you do at a pointe shoe fitting?

I am going to a pointe shoe fitting and I am nervous of what they are going to ask me!? Do they let you decide on the shoe??? Does it take alot of time?? what do yyou say if you aren't interested in their pointe shoes???? HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!

Our pick of the answers:

Don't worry, it's really nothing to worry about. On my first pointe shoe fitting, the lady looked at my feet and measured them with those metal scale-like things they have at shoe stores. They had a supply of disposable socks that are like tights, and toe pads (gel and wool). Well, you wear the thin socks and the pad and you try on the shoe they give you. They have a mirror and a barre, and you do what they tell you to do, like plie and releve. Is it so tight that your toes scrunch up? Is there room between the platform of the shoe and your big toe? The shoe is supposed to be tight, but it shouldn't be a pain to put on and there should be a little scrunch at the heel when your en pointe. You should be able to fit your pinky/index finger snugly between your heel and the heel of the shoe. They tell you what to do, so you don't have to worry about what to do, LOL. I went with my entire class, so we weren't nervous. Just relax. :) My first pair they made me try on was actually the best fit! They made me try all these other pairs, but the Capezio Glisses worked the best. They are for wider feet, so they worked really well for me. Just do what the fitter wants you to do, and the process will be very smooth.

Nancy asks…

Any tips for making outfits and looking good?

i loooooove shopping so much and i buy cute stuff, but some how i always end up wearing the same few things. I need to know how to buy cute clothes that i can layer with tank tops and wear a with bunch of different things(eg. a nice shirt that i can layer with several shirts, different pants etc.) I also suck at accesorising!!! I need help on what kind of jewelery to buy and how to put things together. Also thing for just looking good in general, like tips and stuff. In my area alot of the style (for girls) is like skater girly if that make sense, but i can be preppy to a little bit and we do follow some trends (leggings, flats stuff like that) any help is appreciated. oh im in grade eight so im 13, and i also wanna know where i can get cute shoes like low heels and flats, wedges.hair tips to, and where to get good smelling lotion and perfume, give me examples. thank you soooooo much school starts next week so i need help soon.

Our pick of the answers:

Well layering can be a bit annoying occasionally, I've bought several tops, thinking, wow these will look great under clothing piece x/y/z just to get home and found they were the same cut at the front, son not visible at all peeking out on top, nor long enough to be seen peeking out at the bottom or the wrong shade of a particular colour. When shopping to layer, you have to be quite conscious of what you already have in your wardrobe- unless of course you are buying two pieces together in which it is easy enough to find out whether or not it works. Make sure tht you are not only buying it because it's cute but that you have something to wear with it, so after the first enthusiastic response to it, step back look at it and ask yourself, what will I wear it with. Think of the possible options and think about whether material, length and cut will go wit h tops you have already. Start of with things that have similar material and shades, it's easier to do, very course and very fine material can be layered together but it takes a bit more practice to pull off successfully. Have a look at a colour wheel to get a better idea of what colours will go, while similar colours are easy enough to spot, it will you to find contrasting colours that can be worn together and colours that may clash. It may seem basic but it's important. Have a look at this site: http://www.greatestlook.com/colormatching.html Try not to put black with colour, it often cheapens the colour, especially if you are dealing with a bright pink or red, go with silver, white or grey. Some shops actually sell camis or tanks specifically for layering which are longer than usual so are more likely to work well: http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=26519&pid=390548&scid=390548132&vid=1 http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=7524&pid=360413&scid=360413582 If you want camis that look out over the top of the shirt you are wearing above it can look nice to have a bit of lace or other detail around the the top. Accessorising is just a matter of practice really and the type of accessories you choose depend heavily on what style you are. Again, you can either go with trying to match the colour you are wearing or contrast it. What also works well is going with neutrals, choclate brown, beige and silver especially work well with a range of colours. Mixing the style of your accessories can look a bit odd, say if you have a chunky wooden bead necklace and dainty silver earrings or even just accessories (excluding shoes and bags) so necklace and earrings especially of different colours can look a bit odd. Have a look at other peoples outfits and see what you like and dislike and what they do for accessories. Places like http://www.polyvore.com or http://www.mystylediary.net/Default.aspx let you look through a lot of outfits and could be quite helpful in doing that. If you find any of my ramblings helpful, this is my profile at polyvore: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/profile?id=38203 If not, maybe you can find better inspiration on the rest of the site. Nice smelling lotion, I LOVE Bodyshop (http://www.thebodyshop.com/) although it can be quite pricey but most of the time it is worth it, I especially love the cocoa butter and e-vitamin range, it's some of the only moisturisers that actually work for me (I have very dry skin). I love the subtle smell of the cocoa butter and the fact that it isn't greasy and absorbs quickly: http://www.thebodyshop.com/bodyshop/browse/product_detail.jsp;jsessionid=AD6D2BB41CC152F21E07710060ACD6CF.bsprd-app-101-bssfolapp03?productId=prod4010024&categoryId=search I don't get a lot of stuff there, it's just not in my budget but I do get the odd thing to subsidise my cheaper stuff. They also have perfume and you can actually buy a little set of fragances that you can use to combine to make your very own individual scent (again, not that cheap): http://www.thebodyshop.com/bodyshop/browse/sub_category.jsp;jsessionid=AD6D2BB41CC152F21E07710060ACD6CF.bsprd-app-101-bssfolapp03?categoryId=cat300003 For popular perfumes for teens, this is apparently the top ten list: http://parentingteens.about.com/od/toppicks/tp/fragrance_teen.htm http://cheerleading.about.com/od/cheershopping/tp/perfume.htm Though obviously, choosing a perfume just because it is on a list is a very bad idea as a perfume is a very individual choice, it might help getting you started. Looking good in general; it might sound stupid but sleep is actually quite a factor, there are very few people who can party through the night and look gorgeous the next day (me not being one of them, I look like death warmed up). Get a good moisturiser, your skin looks better if it is moisturised although it may not feel that different. If you wear makeup, don't forget to take it off before you go to bed, it's better for your skin and saves you from waking up to panda eyes (http://www.visit4info.com/sitecontent/TN/tnZZZZZZTVICL0611180436PIC.jpg ). When buying make-up, if you are getting stuff that you will use often and covers a lot of your skin, try to get good quality. Hope I helped a little.

Your Questions About Ladies Shoes For Men

Nancy asks…

Ladies, what casual wear do you suggest for a recently single guy?

Including shoes, type, maybe including clothes for the different seasons. What do you find appealing in casual wear? Always interested in opinions.

Our pick of the answers:

Well I would like black shoes or slippers . As for the clothes I hate men wearing pink tops but I simply love seeing men wearing jeans .

Lisa asks…

What do women think about men in pink dress shirts?

I'm planning on getting dressed up for a lovely lady and take her out to a beautiful restaurant. Hot pink? Light pink? Somewhere in the middle? With a grey tie, black belt, black slacks, black shoes and nice watch. Thank you :).

Our pick of the answers:

Make it a light pink, with a contrasting white collar and cuffs -very fashionable - french cuffs with a pair of stylish cuff links for some added flair - she'll appreciate the effort.

Your Questions About Heels

Mandy asks…

How do I convince my girlfriend to wear high heels?

I'm 6ft and my girlfriend is 5'3 - and I'm getting serious backache!! I've suggested heels but she says she's scared 'cos she's never worn them before. We go shopping and she won't even try a pair on! What can I do?? Does anyone know a good website with nice high-heeled shoes so that I can tempt her?

Our pick of the answers:

The new fashionable heels are platform heels and if you flick through the recent VOGUE then they give you plenty of ideas. Personally I love Kurt Geiger platform heels and I also love classic Chanel heels - unbeatable. I don't really need heels as I am 5"8'5. Hopefully she will see your worthy point and possibly she will stumble across her own perfect heels. Good luck!

Nancy asks…

How do you learn to walk in high heels?

I am a male to female transgender and just purchased my own pair of heels (size 12, three-inch heel). Before I break my ankles or fall flat on my face, does anyone have any tips on learning to walk in these things.

Our pick of the answers:

Congrats on your life choice! I hope you are very happy!! A valuable piece of advice I got from aunt when I was twelve was this: Heel-toe. When you walk in heels make sure you walk heel to toe, don't flat foot it or you'll look like you're schlumping. Walk confidently, just like you would in regular shoes, head up, gently swing your arms. A sixe twelve shoe should balance a 3" heel well, but if you still feel unsteady, please try a lower heel before you hurt yourself! Good Luck!

Laura asks…

Complete lyrics for "Revolutinary Costume of Today," from Broadway musical Grey Gardens?

Would someone be nice enuf to give me complete lyrics here? Christine Ebersole's diction is great!, but it goes so fast in parts that I miss a lot of the extremely clever lyric. Thanks.

Our pick of the answers:

Http://www.allmusicals.com/lyrics/greygardens/therevolutionarycostumefortoday.htm (Speaking) Oh, hi. Thank heaven you're here. You look absolutely terrific, honestly. (Mother wanted me to come out in a kimono so we had quite a fight...) (Singing) The best kind of clothes for a protest pose Is this ensemble of pantyhose Pulled over the shorts, worn under the skirt That doubles as a cape. To reveal you in capri pants You fashion out of ski pants, In a jersey knit designed to fit The contour of your shape. Then cinch it with a cord from the drape. And that's the revolutionary costume for today. To show the polo riders, in khakis and topsiders, Just what a revolutionary costume has to say. It can't be ordered from L.L. Bean. There's more to living than kelly green. And that's the revolution, I mean. Da da da da dum... (Speaking) Just listen to this: The Hamptons Bee, July, 1972: "The elderly bed-ridden aunt of former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, Mrs. Edith Bouvier Beale..." My very own mother, can you imagine? "...and her adult daughter, Miss Edie Beale, a former debutante once known as Body Beautiful Beale..." They called me Body Beautiul Beale, it's true - that was my whaddyacallit, my uh ... Sobriquet. "...are living on Long Island in a garbage-ridden, filthy 28-room house with 52 cats, fleas, cobwebs, and virtually no plumbing. After vociferous complaints from neighbors, the Board of Health took legal action against the reclusive pair." Why, it's the most disgusting, atrocious thing ever to happen in America! (Singing) You fight City Hall with a Persian shawl That used to hang on the bedroom wall, Pinned under the chin, adorned with a pin And pulled into a twist. Reinvent the objet trouve, Make a poncho from a duvet, Then you can be with cousin Lee On Mr. Blackwell's list. The full-length velvet glove hides the fist. And that's the revolutionary costume for today. Subvert the CrisCraft boaters, those Nixon-Agnew voters. Armies of conformity are headed right your way. To make a statement you need not be In Boston Harbor upending tea. And that's a Revolution, to me. Staunch! There's nothin' worse, I tell ya, Staunch! S-T-A-U-N-C-H. Staunch women, we just don't weaken. A little known fact to the fascist pack Who comes here for antiquin'. Da da da da dum... (Speaking) Honestly, they can get you in East Hampton for wearing red shoes on a Thursday – and all that sort of thing. I don't know whether you know that – I mean, do you know that? They can get you for almost anything – it's a mean, nasty, Republican town. (Singing) The best kind of shoes to express bold views Are strapless mules in assertive hues Like fuscia or peach, except on the beach, In which case you wear flats. When I stood before the nation At Jack's inauguration, In a high-heeled pump, I got the jump on Jackie's pillbox hat. Just watch it where you step with the cat! And that's the revolutionary costume pour du jour. You mix 'n' match and, Presto! A fashion manifesto. That's why a revolutionary costume's de rigeur. The rhododendrons are hiding spies, The pussy willows have beady eyes. Binoculars through the privet hedge, They peek at you through the window ledge with guile! We're in a Revolution! So win the Revolution with style! Da da da da dum.

Your Questions About Ladies Shoes Wide

Mary asks…

Buying Shoes for wide feet?

I am currently looking at some nice shoes online that, according to numerous reviews, run true to size. I have wide feet so I was wondering if going up a size would help.( the shoes do not have a wide option)

Our pick of the answers:

Size affects length mainly, not width. Moving up a size will add a small amount of width, but probably not enough. I have a Lady Friend with this same problem. You might try looking at http://www.sexysh oes.com and see what you can find. The Leslie Shoe Company carries larger and wider sizes.

Nancy asks…

I need information to do a survey, what is your shoe size and age?

Thank you to those who will help me out

Our pick of the answers:

I have big, wide feet, so I can't wear ladies' shoes. I wear size nine men's shoes. And I'm 43 years old.

I got your runaway smile in my piggybank baby Gonna cash it right in for a new Mercedes You were worth the hundred thousand miles But you couldn't stay awhile I got your little brown shirt in my bottom drawer baby And your little white socks in the top drawer You were always leaving your shit around And gone without a sound Yeah I'm the first to fall and the last to know Where'd you go? Now I'm heels over head I'm hangin' upside down Thinking how you left me for dead California bound I got a first class ticket to a night all alone And a front row seat up right by the phone Cause you're always on my mind And I'm running out of time I've got your hair on my pillow and your smell in my sheets And it makes me think about you with the sand in your feet Is it all you thought it'd be? You mean everything to me But I'm the first to fall and the last to know And where'd you go? Now I'm heels over head, I'm hangin' upside down Thinking how you left me for dead California bound And when you hit the coast I hope you think of me And how I'm stuck here with the ghost of what we used to be You're burnin' bridges baby Burnin' bridges, making wishes Yeah you're burnin' bridges baby Burnin' bridges, making wishes You're burnin' bridges baby Burnin' bridges, making wishes Yeah you're burnin' bridges baby Burnin' bridges, making wishes You're a chance taker, heartbreaker Got me wrapped around your finger Chance taker, heartbreaker Got me wrapped around your finger I got your runaway smile in my piggybank baby Gonna cash it right in for a new Mercedes If I drive a hundred thousand miles Would you let me stay a while? Now I'm heels over head, I'm hangin' upside-down Thinking how you left me for dead California bound And when you hit the coast I hope you think of me And how I'm stuck here with the ghost of what we used to be Now I'm heels over head, I'm hangin' upside-down Thinking how you left me for dead California bound And when you hit the coast Maybe you'll finally see And then you'll turn it all around and you'll come back to me # I got your runaway smile in my piggybank baby Gonna cash it right in for a new Mercedes You were worth the hundred thousand miles But you couldn't stay awhile I got your little brown shirt in my bottom drawer baby And your little white socks in the top drawer

Our pick of the answers:

Http://www.azlyrics.com/ SHAKIRA LYRICS "Whenever, Wherever" Lucky you were born that far away so We could both make fun of distance Lucky that I love a foreign land for The lucky fact of your existence Baby I would climb the Andes solely To count the freckles on your body Never could imagine there were only Ten Million ways to love somebody Le ro lo le lo le, Le ro lo le lo le Can't you see I'm at your feet Whenever, wherever We're meant to be together I'll be there and you'll be near And that's the deal my dear Thereover, hereunder You'll never have to wonder We can always play by ear But that's the deal my dear Lucky that my lips not only mumble They spill kisses like a fountain Lucky that my breasts are small and humble So you don't confuse them with mountains Lucky I have strong legs like my mother To run for cover when I need it And these two eyes that for no other The day you leave will cry a river Le ro le le lo le, Le ro le le lo le At your feet I'm at your feet Whenever, wherever We're meant to be together I'll be there and you'll be near And that's the deal my dear Thereover, hereunder You'll never have to wonder We can always play by ear But that's the deal my dear Le ro le le lo le, Le ro le le lo le Think out loud Say it again Le ro lo le lo le lo le Tell me one more time That you'll live Lost in my eyes Whenever, wherever We're meant to be together I'll be there and you'll be near And that's the deal my dear Thereover, hereunder You've got me head over heels There's nothing left to fear If you really feel the way I feel

Your Questions About Ladies Shoes For Men

Helen asks…

Why are girls so particular about their clothing and how they look?

I mean, they have too many shoes, too many hair doodads. And something like 20% of their day is deciding what to ware, and what looks good with that. It all seems like such a big hassle. Why do they feel they need to look prefect? Can someone help me out here?

Our pick of the answers:

I feel more comfortable and at ease if I look good. Looking good doesn't mean being perfect, it's just ladies way of life. I don't think that man would like a lady who doesn't look good so we are doing it for our man/ husband/ bf or lover. We don't want to lose love by being not looking good.

Maria asks…

What is the best set of golf clubs for a left handed beginner?

I want to purchase my first set of golf clubs. I have not been golfing too many times but I am pretty athletic and a quick learner. I am not trying to be a pro but would like to have fun. I usually spend a little more than average on my sporting equipment because usually you can get better quality and if nothing else at least it makes you more confident. I want to spend around $1000.00 on clubs and I am wondering what else I should buy shoes, bag, glove, etc. I would als o like to know the basics when it comes to club selection, offset, shaft length, stiffness, etc. Someone who could summerize for me would be great!!!

Our pick of the answers:

I am left-handed but play right because it was easier for me to learn that way and club selection is greater. Golfmith has an excellent selection of right and left handed clubs though. They also have a golf simulator that tests your swing-that will help determine what kind of clubs you need. Stiff versus flex, speed rating etc. Even though I am a lady, I have a very fast swing speed of 125+ mph so I need a very stiff graphite shaft so I chose a men's set (Nickent). I find that graphite shafts are more forgiving than steel. I have been playing almost everyday for 3 yrs and my game has changed so much that I am gl ad I waited to invest more money on clubs until I was able to understand what my needs were better.

Your Questions About Heels With Red Bottoms

Linda asks…

What should I wear to a Red Carpet themed party?

My friend is having a birthday party and it's red carpet themed, but I'm not sure what I should wear. Any ideas??? And what about shoes, since I really can't walk in heels so that's kinda a no-go.

Our pick of the answers:

If its a red carpet party you should use heels, even if theyre low heels try to use a dress that is not too tight but instead has kind of a draping vibrant color bottom. Also get the wavy hear look if you are young or even a very fix ed one this might also help you get inspired.

Lizzie asks…

How should i wear my hair to my friends Sweet Sixteen?

My dress is a pinkish red, with beaded flowers on the bottom, and im wearing black heels. im a brunette, with hair a little below my shoulder. its naturally curly, and i have side bangs. i was thinking of wearing it curly, and half up half down, but i cant find any pics, if you guys could help that would be great thanks=)

Our pick of the answers:

Since I ha ve naturally straightish hair, I make it wavy when going to a formal occassion. In your case, I would blow dry my hair straight using a round brush and then put some type of hair serum before straightening it. I think that would look gorgeous since your hair would be glossy and different than usual. Have fun at the S16. :]
