Your Questions About Commandant Of The Marine Corps

Mandy asks…

from what i learned, the Commandant of the Marine Corps is only a senior administrative position..............

from what i learned, the Commandant of the Marine Corps doesnt have the authority to lead or tell combat units in Iraq what to do. what is the Commandants primary role? otto, i think u are wrong on this question

Our pick of the answers:

He does too. He is the boss, the big guy, he sets policy for the Marine Corps and all personnel of lessor grade will render obedience to proper orders. But he gives his commanders in the field the latitude to make the calls and has full trust and confidence in their abilities to make those calls or they wouldn't have gotten promoted to that rank.

Donna asks…

who is supposed to be replacing general conway as the commandant of the marine corps?

Our pick of the answers:

There is no one that is in line to replace the Commandant. The president selects a person. It could be any of the Lt.Gen or Generals, but it has traditionally been a ground combat commander as a Commandant and an aviation general as the Assistant Commandant.
