Maria asks…

What summertime shoes are appropriate for the office?

I have large feet so I have a hard time finding shoes that fit, let alone heels. I'm 5'11" and am self conscious enough about being tall, so I don't like wearing heels. What other shoes can I wear during the summer months that are approriate for the office? Shoes that I can wear with skirts and dresses? Like mary-janes?? I don't want to look goofy and I don't want my feet to sweat yuk!

Our pick of the answers:

If your office isn't formal (look around at everyone else's feet--does everyone else have heels or pumps?) you could get away with cute flats or Mary Janes, as long as they don't look flimsy or worn. Http://www.zappos.com/vigotti-malorie-bronze-leather?zlfid=111 http://www.zappos.com/gabriella-rocha-bess-flat-black-patent You could do a sandal in a classic look. Don't wear gladiator sandals or anything too flashy looking. Go for neutral colors and small detailing--minimal metallics and other flashy things. A wedge sandal is a good option, too. They usually look dressy enough but don't add too much height. For the office, I tend to prefer the ones that don't have a straw look to the heel. Those don't really add that much height, but they are usually closed-toe and office appropriate for sure. The most important thing, however, is to make sure that you go with the vibe of the office. If other people aren't wearing sandals, don't wear sandals. If they are wearing sandals, don't wear sandals that show off way more of the foot than theirs do. (In some offices, less foot showing is seen as more professional.)
