Your Questions About Shoes For Women Over 50

Lizzie asks…

Has Rap always objectified women?

I hear some people say that rap artists demean women, "because they are required to by the record labels" - and so that would mean that we shouldn't find independent rappers demeaning women, right? But we do. Who was the first rapper to demean women in their music? Early hip-hop did not demean women, Saul Williams and other current non-mainstream rappers do not demean women - so that is proof that rappers can be successful without resorting to objectifying women. I feel that artists should be accountable for the lyrics they write, if they are corrupt enough to decide to demean women for their own personal gains, then that was their personal decision. If someone says to you, "I'll give you a hundred dollars if you go push that old person down on the ground" and you go and do it for the money, guess what? You're the one accountable for your actions. Another question - If you're a Feminist, do you enjoy music that objectifies women? If so, how do you justify that in your own mind? "A bitch made purpose is to service a mac In a skirt till her feet hurt workin trap No breaks, ho break mine or she don't sleep Pussy just a piece of meat another means to eat bitches playin like the wayin so I stay in the game Pimpin hard on these niggaz 'cause they playin is lame How i'm came at a ho is all a bitch gone know What I won't, what I don't and where to put my dough Back-talk get you slapped broad stay in yo place I might get the hanger then make you lay on yo face" - Snoop Dogg. Its blatantly obvious that these lyrics are about women in general, but even if they were about an individual at what point does that begin to matter? "an injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere". For us to accept this kind of treatment towards a single person is just the same as accepting it on a mass scale. Just as someone might call an individual a racial slur, they are then viewed as a racist towards all, not just that one individual they aimed

Our pick of the answers:

Saul Williams career.....compared to 50 Cent's career..... I guess in this case Success is subjective... I think you are giving the Labels too much of a pass....i also think you are not aware of the horrible things the labels do to push such themes.... Personally i have zero problem demeaning "women"...as a Rapper is a taste of what success looks like i can vouch for the feeling....Women are disrespectful....so when you look like your someone important and thats when all the females start throwing themselves at you it really makes you look at women differently...of course these women would be considered hos...but maybe thats the notion women should get when listening to the lyrics as well....In short...you maybe be taking the lyrics as a general statement about women as a whole when in fact we are really just talking about hos....and hos don't deserve respect...so whatever on that... 50 Cent - Get in My Car......a woman can look at that song and say thats deameaning to women....but the theme of the song pits the main character in the role of a pimp....so the women in question are obviously hos....Men know this....i don't believe women do...which is what creates such issues...I think when women automatically hear words like "B*tch" and "Ho" that logic goes out of the window and they start to put themselves in the role of these "Hos" that are being spoke on...which is stupid because in the end...if you ain't a ho...it ain't concerning you... I think if thats all the artist is about then there is something to complain about...but its more for a lack of subject matter rather than the subject itself.... Also, desperation can change anyone's opinion...this is NOT an excuse...but you have to understand that being a poor black person...you might jump to the first sign of tangible success...even if it means selling out some.....thats why i compare Hip Hop to slavery now....you either stand up for yourself, pick cotton with your brothers and hope to pull through on your own....or sit at the table and share some delight with the Massa....Sometimes a N*gga can get tired of chiterlins...they want Bacon at the table...even if it means selling out... Not a excuse...just a shot at understanding perspectives.....i think you would do better by showing examples rather than just talking in general... EDIT: Ok with that said you basically just proved my point...you literally took a song (P*ssy Sells by Snoop Dogg) that was ABOUT HOS and generalized it about women as a whole...i mean just look at the title of the song... Second....Snoop didn't say that....Tray Dee did...Snoops lyrics confirm the logic... "Me and my n*ggaz is hard as hell Pimp slap a b***h for some clientele b***h get me a room at a plush hotel To hit this trick for this lick and go get my mail If you ever get caught, cracked and thrown in jail You know a n*gga comin throw with that bail I put you on a track like that for real And you know and I know that p*ssy will sell" Case and point...it follows the same format as the song i said before you even replied...You took a song about pimpin and hoing...and tried to generalize it about all women as an sensible example...and what do you know....you even put yourself in their shoes....even when they weren't meant for you to wear...Completely pointless... If you want to defend hos....lol ok have fun....defend violent thugs while you're at it....Accepting NEGATIVE comments towards hos does not hold weight on anyone on a mass scale.....unless you want it to.(Which is what you just did) Mainly because being a ho is NEGATIVE... This is completely different than a race issue because there is no generalization that can be made...its a ho...thats what hos do. Thats why they are called hos....if you can prove that hos aren't selling p*ssy, aren't scandalous, aren't out for the money, and wrecking homes, then maybe you have a point...but thats what hos do....like i said before as men we understand this...some women get it as well but others just can't stand the idea of the term being used in my opinion...But if you can show an example of a racial slur being used in the same manner...then hey maybe you're right...But you won't because race isn't something that you can generally label as a negative...sucking tons of d*ck for money and using guys in order to better yourself is always gonna be socially negative... Hos, b*tch, slut=Negative...with no ties to any specific people...just actions.... K*ke,N*gger,Cr@cker,Wetb*ack= racial slur that is specific to a particular group.... Women talk about men being dogs....Men understand that its not about all men...we ain't crying about it.....that is until the women start marching the streets and sh*t singing and what not...then it gets annoying...(Think Like a Man, Act like a Lady...remember that?)
