Lizzie asks…
Are there a lot of women who are insecure about having wide feet?
I'm online looking for some new ballet shoes, and I came across a Youtube video where the woman was saying which shoes are better for "fat footed" people compared to those with thin feet, but in some comments people were upset because they felt that if you call a woman "fat footed" it can lead to body issues. That seems a little too sensitive to me. I have wide feet, and my feet are my least favorite part of my body, but I've never come across somebody who developed extreme body issues because they were told their feet were wide. Is this a common insecurity?

Our pick of the answers:
No, this is not a common insecurity,,

Nancy asks…
What are the evolutionary or whatever advantages of having wide feet?
I have really wide feet, can associate them with seal flippers LOL. Are there any advantages of having it, the major disadvantage is finding appropriate sized shoes. Any natural advantage?

Our pick of the answers:
Me too. I've heard it's a peculiarity of the pre-Roman inhabitants of Britain. The length of my feet would indicate a size 10.5, but I have to buy size 12 to fit the width. Another attribute is a weak arch aka flat feet. I recall my big brother had to do posture class or something silly like that when he was a teenager. Last, the big toe extends to beyond the second toe -- women with this condition can't wear women's dress shoes at all because women's shoes aren't made to fit this. > Any natural advantage? Greater surface area means less slipping, LOL. I take showers without one of those suction cup doodads on the floor. My wide flat feet don't slip.
