Men's Foot Problem (cracked heels)?
My hubby has REALLY bad feet. The skin on his heels has apparently lost the ability to shed, so it stays and stays. (the doctor told him it was as result of hours working in a car wash when he was younger) We have tried many expensive creams, pumice stones etc We really cant afford weekly professional pedicures for him right now. I am not kidding when I say he has petrified skin on his heels less that a week after his last appointment with the pedicurist. It cracks deep cracks and breaks off. He asked me to cut a piece off the other day and the sheers I use for cutting chicken bones would barely cut it. He cant feel his heels either. Has anyone else had this and have any tips? We have tried professional shoes, expensive (and cheap) creams etc. I am leery of doing a home pedicure and cutting too much skin off or making it worse. We need some solution because his skin actually leaves cuts on my legs when we sleep. (the jagged edges) Do you use the Vaseline with socks on? We are in the middle of Canada...no sea here and the beaches are covered in snow. Also...his feet do not sweat. (weird, isnt it) Its hard for anything to get to the new skin thru the old hard petrified stuff

Our pick of the answers:
Just before bed, try a using a foot file and then soak before scrubbing with a foot scrub (needs to be course) to remove any skin, and then apply a liberal dose of Eulactol Heel Balm, or use Vaseline and pull on some socks to prevent bedding from becoming yucky. Apply another dose of Balm or Vaseline again in the morning, and repeat foot scrub again each night, for about a week, drop back scrub to once a week. Continue with the balm/Vaseline twice a day. I use the salt scrub on my feet, in summer as they become so dry and hard, with huge cracks. Hope this helps a little.
