How can I end this clothes swap without losing my friend?
I never know how to handle this kind of situation. My new friend was visiting me. We were talking about clothes and discover we wear the same size in just about everything. I brought out some of my favourite things to show her, including an awesome pair of Italian leather boots with 4" heels. She tries on the boots. They fit perfectly and look great on her. She loves them so much she offers to buy them off me. Thinking it might be fun to have someone to share clothes with occasionally, I propose a swap – I'll lend her the boots for a week or so, if I can borrow the flat boots she was wearing. She agrees immediately, but then says she can't drive home in such high heels and will drop off the flat boots the next day. She leaves carrying my boots. The next day she comes by with an armload of clothes, but no boots. She says she realized she needs flat boots for work and wants to lend me the clothes instead. I agree, but I'm a bit disappointed as her boots looked cute on me. I have a bright idea – I'll lend her a pair of flat boots for work so I can try out hers. I figure we can swap when she brings her boots by. She likes my flat boots so much she insists on wearing them home, with a promise to drop hers by the next day. Well, you can see where this is going – she has lots of excuses why she can't bring over the boots, working late, forgot, etc. I know she doesn't need them for work because I called her there and she happily tells me she's wearing my boots right now. After a few days I give up. It's not that important to me anyway. Well, I guess this question is getting pretty long, so I'll try to conclude quickly. More than a month has gone by. I've worn her stuff a couple of times which is enough, and I'd like to get my boots back. We have long chats on the phone a couple times a week and I think we could be good friends. Whenever I bring up the subject of ending our swap, she says she's not in a hurry for her clothes and would like to keep the boots a few more days for a date or whatever, and goes on to tell me all about the outfit she's planning to wear. So far I haven't had the heart to insist. After all, I don't really need them right away, and she says she's taking good care of them. Still, I think this has gone on long enough, and the longer she has them, the more they will seem like hers, and the less they will belong to me. How can I end this swap diplomatically without offending my new friend?

I say you make a reason to wear the boots. Let her now the outfit that you're going to wear them with and tell her you'll be by to pick them up...and set a time. Who cares if you wear the outfit to go grocery shopping...you were honest that you were going to wear them. Show up with ALL her stuff and let her know that you may as well pick up ALL your stuff. DO NOT let her give you the excuse that she needs them and doesn't have anything else to wear. Offer to go shopping with her or tell her where you saw a pair just like them. Let her know that your boots are missing you :)

Me and 3 girlfriends are looking for funds for our school.
