Your Questions About Court Shoes Nike

Sandra asks…

Will basketball shoes function as occasional running shoes?

Hi, I'm in middle school and I recently bought two pairs of basketball shoes: the adiZero Rose 2.5 for use strictly on the court and the Nike Overplay VI for recreational games and casual wear. Now, in our gym, we have occasional runs (two laps or so) and a few jogs. I am a phenomenal runner, but I don't actually run as a hobby. We run a max of five times a month, excluding the Track and Field unit. Will my basketball shoes(the Nike Overplay VI) function for running a small amount of time like this?

Our pick of the answers:

Dang! I wanted the adiZero 2.0 but I got the Jordan 11's instead. I'm really jealous, lol, but yes, it will function. D rose's shoes are VERY light, and running shoes are supposed to be light. The Nike Overplay VI isn't a very good basketball shoe, but it's very light and responsive. So yes, both will do.

Jenny asks…

How are tennis shoes different from other types of shoes?

I have basketball and cross-trainer shoes, so how much are tennis shoes different and which should I use until I buy tennis shoes (which is hopefully soon)? Thanks!

Our pick of the answers:

Completely agree with Jeff. Depending on your level, normal shoes, even basketball shoes, will be torn up on clay and hard courts. Tennis shoes, (again, this depends on how tough you play, your level) have extra traction on the soles and padding on ther sides, to specifically increase your side to side moving ability. I remember when I purchased my first pair of tennis shoes. The difference was very evident. I was able to completely stop and dart to the other side of the court with ease. Obviously it all depends on the type, price, of the shoe, but usually a tennis shoe will show good improvement. From the outer shell, everything is usualyl a very hard material, to allow for sliding and constant pressure back and forth from the movements, which allows a good pair of tennis shoes to last between 4-6 months. Nike makes cheap brand shoes, which may suit you. Again, depending on your level, you may not find the nike 60 dollar tennis shoes to be much different than the Adidas, 135+ dollar tennis shoes, with exception to the fact that Nike shoe will lost maybe 2 months while a good pair can last about 5 months. Go online and do some research into shoes, I would suggest checking out tenniswarehouse.com. They have a great selection and you can even see which ones the pros are wearing when they play! Good luck! Daniel
