Your Questions About Shoes For Women With Wide Feet

Sandra asks…

Why don't they make all shoes wider, especialy heels?

I have wide feet genetically and can have trouble with shoes, most of the time I see lots I like but cannot buy them because they either fall out of my feet or squash them! It's very annoying when I see a pair I really want but they don't fit. Heels are the worst if they're tight. Women complain about them all the time anyway but I have more of a problem as very rarely can I find a pair that fits even. My question is, if they're too lazy to make different widths why don't they just make ALL shoes wider? I hear from people with 'normal'/narrow feet that they get wider shoes because they're so much more comfortable, or that they don't even notice the difference really. Many women complain that heeled shoes can be too tight, so why don't they just make them wider and give more space for the toes? Let me guess because it wouldn't look as good on the shelf? If not all of them alteast make the same shoe in a wider fitting. What do you think?

There are places like http://www.drewshoe.com that specialize in selling wide shoes. Maybe they will have something for you. As for your question, i don't know maybe shoe companies feel wide shoes don't sell enough.

Donna asks…

Sizing of Bauer Hockey Skates for Women?

I'm getting my first pair of skates and I'm probably going to get the Bauer Vapor X20's. I'm confused about the sizing because I'm normally a 9.5 Australian Woman's shoe size, with wide-ish feet. Rental hockey skates give me grief from being slightly too narrow. i'm normally a 9.5 in rentals. What size should I go? And are the sizes all mens?

Our pick of the answers:

Where do you live? If you are in Melbourne, go to the Icehouse and get fitted in the pro shop there. Sydney, Macquarie Ice Rink or Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink are the places to get fitted. Otherwise I don't know, but have a call around your local rinks, and go and get fitted properly. Better having to drive a little way and getting a proper fit, than playing Russian Roulette with the online stores and getting it wrong.
