Your Questions About Womens Shoes Size 13

Linda asks…

why are some shoes classified as "womens"?

i saw some new Nike shoes called the Nike Air Rift MTR .... but when i went on a website and saw a cool color that i thought was nice (grey and orange) i found out that they are "womens" shoes....i wear a UK size 11, so i figured since in US size, a womens size 13 is the same as a UK mens 11, that I could buy them anyway, right? Or, are womens feet anatomically different than mens? any help would be appreciated

Our pick of the answers:

Women's feet tend to be a bit narrower, but since they're sneakers you should be fine.

Sandra asks…

i want ballet heels but what is my womens shoe size for them?

hi, Im a mens 13 shoe, i read that when converting mens shoes to women you go 2 sizes up. but i heard it can vary depending on the type of shoe. so since i was buying online and couldn't buy from a store. i took a chance and first got 6 inch heels in a womens size 15, they fit like perfectly, and are not to tight but not loose, so i'm pretty sure i want to get a 15 when i buy ballet heels but are they sized a little different because i think if i get a 14 they will be too tight, and i've read some people say they wear the same size shoe for men and women. for example i've read somebody wears like say a size 10 in mens but also gets a 10 in womens, how is that when womens shoes are 2 sizes smaller

Our pick of the answers:

Wow sweetie, you must have a hard time finding shoes. I think your first assumption is right about two sizes bigger. Here's a link that explains it http://shoes.about.com/od/shoefaqs/f/men_women_size.htm. The best thing to do is to try them on because not all shoes fit the same, but I realize that might not be easy. I'm not sure what ballet heels are. I have lots of ballet flats, but they have almost no heel. Here are two sites that carry larger sizes: http://www.designershoes.com/ http://www.barefoottess.com/
