NAPW Announces Amber L. Ahlgren, Director of Reimbursement at Flowonix Medical, Inc., as 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year

Garden City, NY (PRWEB) November 28, 2013

The National Association of Professional Women honors Amber L. Ahlgren as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in the medical device industry with this prestigious distinction. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional women is a vibrant networking community with nearly 500,000 members and over 400 Local Chapters.

"I have been in the medical device field for nearly 13 years and with Flowonix since February," says Ms. Ahlgren. "I am very excited to be a part of the launch of Prometra, our new implantable pump. By steadily delivering the correct dosage of medication to patients who suffer from chronic pain, explains Ms. Ahlgren, Prometra is revolutionizing the medical pump field.

Launched in April and FDA approved, Prometra offers patients a better alternative to oral pain medication. "The beauty of this pump is that it delivers a precise dose so the patient gets adequate pain relief through a controlled, steady flow without the side effects of oral medication, such as addiction, which is a serious epidemic right now," says Ms. Ahlgren. The device lasts nearly twice as long as other medical pumps, so it is also more cost-effective since it results in fewer surgeries for the patient.

Ms. Ahlgren's role is to develop and implement reimbursement strategies, create innovative reimbursement support programs for internal and external customers, train Flowonix's sales staff and create customer management training materials associated with reimbursement support programs and health economics. She regularly meets with hospital personnel to help them understand the cost feasibility and effectiveness of Prometra. "Our ultimate goal is to vastly improve a patient's quality of life," says Ms. Ahlgren.
