How good is the book fifty shades of grey?

I haven't read it and it seems like it's a suuuuuuper popular book... For people from what age reads this book? I've been searching for a good book to read... and I know it's an erotic book.. If I am 16 and I heard adults(40years old) read that... am I too young to read it? Because I don't exactly know what it is... But I am interested.. And Why are some people who are ashamed of saying they are reading that book?

People don't generally like to admit that they like to read blatant erotica. They're ashamed to say they read it as some won't admit to looking at porn movies or magazines. This book has blatant sex. It's not just implied, it's not just suggested. The main guy pulls out the main girls tampon so he can have sex with her. He's into bondage and sadism and Dominance/submission. So, not only is the sex graphic, it's a bit beyond the norm for most people. There are a ton of people reading this book, from teens to married women. In speaking with women (and men) at my workplace and other gatherings, the average reader is not very sexually experienced. They don't seem to have a lot of courage to try new things in the bedroom. They wish they could do the things in Fifty Shades, but they won't. Sure it's titillating, but when it comes down to it, all they're willing to do in their own bedrooms is straight missionary sex. It was originally a Twilight fanfiction. EL James imagined Edward and Bella minus all the paranormal stuff and Fifty Shades was the result. That said, this is a very poorly written novel. The characters are flat and repetitive. They have the same conversations over and over, using the same exclamatory phrases over and over. The main guy is a 26 year old billionaire who never works. The main girl is a 22 year old virgin who has never even held hands with a man, let alone kissed one. And she jumps at the opportunity to explore sometimes violent, kinky sex with this guy. I have no problem with erotic novels. I enjoy them from time to time. But this one was just ridiculous. It's perfectly normal to want to read something like this. Check out some of the stories at Literotica. Try Surrender by Donna Storey and Rachel Bussel. They have a distinctive sexual focus. You might want to try something sexual, but more romance, not quite so much sex. Anatomy of a Boyfriend by Daria Snadowsky, Perfect Chemisty by Simone Elkeles, Forever by Judy Blume, Separate Beds by Lavyrle Spencer. I'm 44 and I read it. I'd like to unread it, but I can't. I offered it to my 16 year old daughter. She said "Umm, no." She's obviously wiser than me on this one.

Is the book fifty shades of grey unsuitable for a fifteen year old?

I want to read It but am unsure wether it is a bit too racy or not. I'm ok with some mild sex scenes but I'm not a fan of books that are just about sex. It seems like a good book though.

I think it depends on the fifteen year old really. I haven't read it because from what I've heard, is that it is all about sex. And I personally, am not into that. If I'm being completely honest, part of me wants to read it out of curiosity though. If you want to read it, I'd say go for it. If you start it and realize that it is too racy for your tastes you can always stop reading it. If you're that curious, it might be worth a try. If you're still sort of unsure whether you should read it or not, I recommend reading some of the reviews on goodreads or amazon. What other people say about it might help you sway your decision. That's normally what I do when I'm unsure about a book.
