I'm very short, just 5 foot. so i got a dress for homecoming, its very short, and bubbled at the bottom. but when i came home and tried the dress on with heels, my legs looked super skinny and long. i really would like to wear heels rather then flats, but what kind of heels will make my legs look a little less long and skinny?
Groovy pumps :)
Jenny asks…
I heard you keep your heels on the ground, but you could also not touch the ground with your heels. Which one is correct?
Depends which style of bellydance you do, and which movements. If you want an earthy folkloric look, keep your heels down. For most travelling moves you would have the heels up slightly so you have "bounce" in your step. Dancers vary in how high they like their heels for this. I was always being told only 1/4 inch of the floor by one teacher but that is wrong, it should be where you are comfortable. Some travelling moves you need to come right up on the balls of your feet as high as possible. If you are standing still learning moves, you may be told to keep your heels down and learn to move from your hip and belly muscles rather than shifting your hip around using your feet and legs. It's a good discipline for beginners and drilling.

I haven't been on a date in literally 5 years and I'm finally going on one tomorrow. I'm meeting the guy at a bar. Any things I should avoid wearing or doing? I'm meeting the guy at a bar I plan on wearing jeans with a brown skin tight blouse and stilettos. I have a soft red lipstick and black mascara. I plan on just wearing my hair down. I also plan on wearing my Shania by stetson perfume For starters, I don't drink. Whenever I'm at a bar I only order juice and soda. Also this particular bar is a very popular college hang out. I hate wearing black because my hair is also black. Whenever I wear black, even if it's something sexy, i look like I'm going to a funeral
Is the Bar an appropriate place to meet in a first date. Is alcohol something that you indulge in? What you are wearing is nice for where you are meeting at. I just have a little apprehension with this Bar setting? Understand?
Laura asks…
I was out with friends at an Applebee's and there were some guys at the bar who wanted to buy us some shots so after we got out drinks we went to their table. We hung out there for a bit and then went back to the bar to hang out. One of the guys got me another drink but I didn't want anymore to drink because I was the DD so I switched to water. I told him to give it to one of the other girls I was with but he told me I had to drink it cause he bought it for me but I didn't want anymore alcohol so I said thanks but no thanks and to just give it to one of my friends and when I walked away he grabbed my arm and told me he got it for me and to drink it so i don't waste his money. I told him no thanks and he would not let go of me and I asked him to please let go and he just grabbed me even harder so I used the stiletto heel on my shoe and slammed it into his foot and he flinched and let me go and I told him to please just leave me alone and that I didn't want the drink and that I was trying to be nice but he was being a jerk. He later got asked to leave by the manager. I didn't plan to use my shoe like that but it came in handy and I gotta tell ya I was glad I had on stilettos cause that made him back off. Did I do the right thing or was I being too mean? I just wanted a fun night out with my friends. Has anyone else used their heels like this in a sorta self-defense way? Thanks for taking the time to read all of this, and I hope spring is on the way wherever you are!
You did the right thing. I have took my shoe off and threaten to poke the guys eye out with the heel, kind of dumb I know but, I was a little drunk and hey it worked, not only did he leave me alone, he hauled a** straight out of the club!!!

They are the most fashionable womens in common. How can I tell these two? Rindsay Lohan and Sienna miller are typical beautiful ladies of these two countries?
The difference is British women no matter how rich or poor, plain or beautiful. They still have a deep inbred class, etiquette, social and feminine manners and with fashion sense. Floral dresses, stockings and heels. American women are seen as being more masculine mannered than feminine mannered compared to British women. Especially in table etiquette and manners and in social situations and with their fashion sense. Over sized tee shirts, spandex ski pants and tennis shoes. No matter how beautiful or much money or etiquette training an American woman may have it still doesn't buy the natural class which British women are born with. If you sat a British woman and an American woman at a table for a meal you would see this very clearly. The British woman would use a knife in her right hand and a down turned fork in her left and wouldn't put her elbows on a dining table or hover over her plate or meal and she'd chew her food. Also never would speak with any food in her mouth. The American woman wouldn't use her knife, and she'd eat with an upturned fork in her right hand and shovel food into her mouth, without chewing or would chew on a piece of meat. Like she'd do with chomping on a piece of chewing gum with her mouth open. While hovering over her plate plate and food, with her elbows on the table, and talk with food in her mouth. If she needed to cut her food she would put her fork in her left hand and use her right to pick up the knife to cut, then put the knife down, and return the fork in the shovel position in the right hand. Any foreigners can pick out an American from a crowd of people just by the way they eat. Another thing, Americans don't know the table etiquette of eating with chopsticks and many people find it very offencive, with them using the forbidden higher social position when they all hold the chopsticks. This is also how all Asian and foreign people can spot an American person from a crowd too. Also with shoes American women mainly wear masculine flat shoes, British women mainly wear feminine heels or heeled boots..

ok, so i've been searching online forever looking for some silver heels, my feet are VERY wide...and well i can not seem to find any heels that will fit. i'm a size 10 in woman's and the regular 10wide shoe does not fit me, any shoe store suggestions ?
Try ebay's fashion shoes section. They allow you to search by size, brand, condition (new, previously owned), price range, style, main color, and any other search terms you can think of! You might track them down that way. http://your.styleba.be/ebay_womens_shoes AND, if they do not have your size available, click on " Save this search and alert me later" (just to right of the search box). If you do this, ebay will email you when the item(s) matching your search comes up. Also, you can decide how often they email you with new listings. For example, you could save a search for: size 9 shoes, style xxx, brown, brand xxx, under $100 - and you will get an email that will alert you when exactly what you want is available. It's a really efficient way to find exactly what you want, without having to surf ebay all day long.

It seems impossible to find shoes that look like DC court, or athletic skat shoes that aren't made of either leather or suede. Does anyone have any recommendations, a picture of the shoe would be appreciated if you can thanks. Just a brand name will also do nicely.
With all the different brands that are out there, the shoe I was first given or actually purchased for varsity basketball was Converse with canvass uppers they have a variety of colors.

I believe it's a size 9 (US) because I can never find shoes that are on sale or clearance in my size! The interns at my job swear that it's a 6 or 7, but I disagree. Your answers will determine which size is the most common. *Please be honest* Thanks!
8 to 9, I wear an 8 1/2 though, I think it's an awkward size so I can never find anything.

well i bought some make up from Debenhams. its a lip gloss actually. And i DID NOT use it !! i dint even touch the plastic bag to take it from it... Any way I decided to return it and take my money "refund". i went there i got the receit and everything. the cashier woman opened it checked it she said its used ! she brught some new item same and she showed me how they are different ! and then she closed it "the one i want to return". then she called some other sales woman to show her. and they re-opened it closed it AGAIN. so now its really looked like its really used! coz they kept opening and closing and the material now is all on the stick of the brush inside ! then they called the woman who sold me this ! she said ohhh its used ! and she told me why youre returning it didnt you try it here and liked it ??? she thouht i bought it and i wore it for an occassion then i said oh i want my money back lol. i told her yes i did try it but i thought of it and now im back and i have the full right to ! i mean why she asks me for the reason and why shes pointing that im lieing. then she said ok i will let you return it. i told her ok thank you but plz can you come with me to the cashier to tell them that? she came with me and while we were there she told me "this time i allowed you to return it while i should not" infront of all the people there that really embarrassed me like im am some kind of beggar or something. i replied " am the one whos supposed to allow you for your mistake not you!" i know thats rude but she made me say so then she tried to get back with what she said to not let me return it lol after what i told her. but the manager didnt let her to stop the refunding. so they gave me back my money fortunatly. but the thing is i dont like to be mean to people and rude and underestimate someone and be that Low. but i dont know what i was supposed to say and how i say it .. QUESTION: if you were in my shoes you wanted to return something and the sales man is refusing saying you used it. what would you do ? i want a classy sophisticated and ature way to handle an argument p.s: i tried the tester item in the store not the one i bought of course.
There's no such thing as a classy, sophisticated and mature way to argue back, so you don't argue. "He who argues with a fool is himself a fool"...or something like that. So: You simply state, factually, the problem. The cashier seemed to have it in for you from the onset. Many cosmetic counter clerks rely heavily on the commission portion of their income and returns cut into that. You should have asked her when things started going badly, "Excuse me, but I've told you the problem already. Will you help me resolve it or not?" That would have signaled her to complete the refund. If she said no, then you ask for the supervisor. If she said none were available, ask her to page the store manager. While cosmetic counters are generally leased floor space by independent companies within the department store, no store manager wants a problem like that. As long as you keep your voice nonconfrontational, and you don't look hostile, you've done your job and you've made the clerk look like the jerk she behaved like.

This woman is driving me crazy! My firm has a dress code that says "All employees are required to present a professional image, which will be determined by the partners of the firm" Flats are not professional and it is driving me crazy. I don't care if I have to pay unemployment, I am even willing to pay a small severance package. However, she is refusing to wear heels and she has to go. I am I in the clear from a big lawsuit?
Flats are perfectly professional. A closed toe dress shoe is a professional shoe. Many women can't wear heels due to health problems. Your grounds for termination are ridiculous and laughable. Do the men in your office wear pumps too? Probably not. In which case, she'll sue your fanny for gender discrimination and will probably win. Perhaps you should consult an attorney and get a written legal opinion. I suspect the attorney will tell you that a closed toe flat is appropriate and meets the standard of a "professional appearance". A court room is a Very Professional environment. Lots of lady lawyers wear flats when in court in front of the judge. As a matter of fact, It would would be really funny if she hired a lady lawyer to sue you and the lady lawyer spent the whole trial in flats! Here's some information I found on professional dress. Note the section on shoes. "Shoes and Footwear Conservative walking shoes, dress shoes, oxfords, loafers, boots, flats, dress heels, and backless shoes are acceptable for work. Not wearing stockings or socks is inappropriate. Athletic shoes, tennis shoes, thongs, flip-flops, slippers, and any casual shoe with an open toe are not acceptable in the office." http://humanresources.about.com/od/workrelationships/a/dress_formal.htm http://www.ehow.com/how_2064031_dress-womens-professional-attire.html "Stick with pumps or flats. Pumps are the quintessential business shoe for women. Choose a pump with a closed toe and a two- to three-inch heel in black, brown or navy. As an alternative to heels, and to wear with pantsuits, flats are a good choice. Again, a closed toe is appropriate here. Your flats should look like a man's loafers." So, before you make a fool of yourself and get your company sued - contact your human resources department and discuss the matter with them. I suspect they will tell you that by wearing flats she is compliant with the dress code. If they tell you otherwise - that it's ok to fire her - make sure you get that opinion in writing from them before you do. That way, you can cover your fanny when you get sued.
Laura asks…
I am just trying to figure out why would someone born as a male, want to wear dresses, skirts, heels, paint their nails, and in general do things that are girly?
A better question is "Why wouldn't a man want to be more feminine?" Not only are womens clothes much more comfortable, they are more stylish and help anyone present a more attractive image.

Flushing with Gates POWERCLEAN Flush Tool increases cooling efficiency, produces more heat for winter driving, and lengthens water pump life.
Denver, Colo. (PRWEB) May 16, 2012
Gates Corporation, a leading manufacturer of industrial and automotive products, today announced the introduction of the POWERCLEAN™ Flush Tool. Gates has also embarked on an industry-wide cooling system maintenance and awareness campaign.
The POWERCLEAN Flush Tool uses patented pulsating technology, clean water, and compressed air to scrub deeply into cooling system corners and crevices, dislodging more debris and accumulated sludge than a garden hose or evacuation flush. Flushing with the POWERCLEAN Flush Tool increases cooling efficiency, produces more heat for winter driving, and lengthens water pump life. In turn, this helps reduce warranty claims and increases customer satisfaction.
Gates offers the tool to address the need for a more thorough way to flush radiators, engine blocks and, most importantly, heater cores. Extensive chemical laboratory testing of coolants and their behavior on water pumps showed that improper cooling maintenance adversely impacts the water pump. Cross contamination of coolant and mixing of coolant chemistry can lead to premature and catastrophic water pump failures.
Field testing also showed that conventional flushing methods do not remove enough solid contaminants, which are held in suspension or have fallen out of suspension and remain in the system. These solids damage the water pump seal, the most critical component.
Tests by the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) as well as Gates research show that water pump surface material loss does take place in the system and is not limited to the water pump. This material loss is harmful to water pump seals and results in compromised mating seal surfaces. Over time, all metal components in the cooling system can succumb to premature failure.
Results from testing on various applications proves the POWERCLEAN Flush Tool can clean cooling systems more thoroughly than conventional flushes while preventing damage and ensuring warranty coverage on replacement parts, including water pumps.
"I never would have thought something so simple could change my mind about the way we service cooling systems on today's vehicles," said Craig Wallace of John's 4x4 Center in Boulder, Colo. "The customers, shop owners, and technicians will all save money in the long run by using this tool."
Gates also launched an awareness campaign to educate industry professionals on the importance of proper cooling system maintenance. Together with professional installer Donny Seyfer of Wheat Ridge, Colo., the campaign provides the video and training tools needed to educate today's technicians on efficiently cleaning cooling systems without damaging the water pump and other components.

Lug Be A Lady Chunky Ankle Cuff Heels from GoJane's new Platform Shoes Collection
LOS ANGELES, Cali. (PRWEB) March 21, 2014
Platform heels are really the ultimate in daring footwear, and GoJane offers a wide selection.
"No matter what the style, a platform shoe commands attention – and gets it," says GoJane stylist and blogger Emily Devine.
In addition to pumps and wedges in a huge array of colors and styles, GoJane also carries booties, slip-ons and other footwear styles, meaning that GoJane literally has something for everyone. The more novice heel wearer will find jelly wedges, cork wedges and slip-on wedges, which offer a bit more support to make walking easier while building up to more outlandish footwear options.
Chunky heels and booties are another solid choice for ladies who want to gain height without breaking their necks.
"In a lot of cases, platform heels are really more art than shoe," Devine says. "Walking in these sky-high heels is an acquired skill."
But GoJane has plenty of radical options as well, like lace-up and heel platforms – and lace-up heel platforms. These shoes are made to be seen. GoJane also carries tons of platforms with fun patterns and materials to make the act of wearing platforms all the more wonderful and outrageous. And although feet may hurt afterward, wallets will not thanks to GoJane's highly affordable prices.
"Our platform shoes are really the centerpiece of any ensemble and are best paired with short skirts or shorts to further lengthen your legs and underscore the gravity-defying act that is wearing these shoes," says Devine.
To find the perfect platform shoe outfit, shop GoJane's selection of clothing and accessories.
GoJane is an online retailer of fashion-forward apparel for progressive young women. The website offers all of the latest trends in clothing and accessories for a fraction of the cost of designer brands. GoJane's helpful customer service team is available five days a week, and the store's 30-day return policy makes finding the right size fast, easy and worry-free.

So I've gotten my first job as a casual at a shoe store and am quite worried about the christmas season. What can I expect from this season and how long does it last?
I'm sure there's an official answer out there, however, my guess would be until February. People underestimate how busy the time right after christmas is, with all the returns, sales, etc. I say february, simply because by that time most people will have made their exchanges, but I would bet that stores would start ramping down by the first of January, and continue to do so till February

company? I am looking at opening a small retail running store and NEED HELP on how to locate wholesale distributors to whom i can buy from to even determine profit from sale.....please help?
Shoe companies have regional sales people. You need to go to their website for contact info. I took a look at Asics and Adidas- could not locate regional information but if you call headquarters they can give you that information. Just a guess but I think shoes in a retail store are marked up 75-100% over wholesale. Your other option is to check out the closest running specialty store in your area and see what you can find out.

Some of my female friends say that this brand is for more mature women, say...over 40. I always thought it was marketed towards women of all ages...what do you think?
Well i am 24 years old and i like alot of Nine West things especially the shoes and handbags...they have really nice things. So i dont think they are strictly for older women. Although it may tend to lean toward a more business realted woman but not all of the items they carry.
Ruth asks…
Which one, and why? Also I heard they're having a poll - http://tinyurl.com/3239u5 - and also giving out $500 Gift Vouchers to shop at retail shoe shops. Do check em out too.
I would have to go with Nine West.. I like the style of their shoes much more.. I believe they are better quality and more classy. Steve Madden is overpriced for nothing ! Nine West also has a line in other accessories, not just footwear..They have bags, belts, scarves, and more !
