As the presidential candidates scramble to get their messages heard, and pollsters and pundits argue about swing states and attack ads, filmmaker Srikant Chellappa gives us a hilarious and often sobering look at what it takes for the average guy to run for office.
Following the heels of political documentaries like Fahrenheit 9/11 and Outfoxed, comes a new documentary that, for once, is not a political ad in any way, shape or form. The movie, Running Against Dick is an irreverent look at third party candidates running against an entrenched incumbent candidate.
The focus of the film is the campaign by Dan Byington (Libertarian) against incumbent Rep Richard Gephardt for the US Congress in 2002. The film also provides insight into campaigns by Green Party, and un-funded Republican and Democratic candidates in the primaries.
Running Against Dick premiered at the Annual Flint Film Festival where it showed to a standing room only crowd and won the Audience Choice Award for documentaries.
The film travels to St. Louis on October 26th showing at the Webster Film Series, which will be the movieÂ's first showing in the city where it was filmed.
Â"My hope is that, this film provides a perspective of the other candidates in a bitterly divided country, in not so much to encourage the voters to vote for third parties but at least acknowledge their love for change and the sincerity of their beliefsÂ" says Srikant Chellappa, the filmmaker.
Â"Unless you have a lot of money, you are not even a contenderÂ" - Quote from the film by Jeff Smith, Democratic Strategist.
Although his name is in the title, Rep. Richard Gephardt and his 26-year tenure in the House serve only as the backdrop for the races run by alternative candidates in what turns out to be Mr. GephardtÂ's last run for office.
While the film focuses on a used car salesman, a chef, and a freight salesman as they struggle to get their name out to the voting public, itÂ's the man-on-the-street interviews that steal the show. Over the course of five months of the campaign, hundreds of people were interviewed, some of which illustrated the extent to which the voters vote along party lines without considering the issues.
Â"I donÂ't care, it doesnÂ't matter. I will still vote republicanÂ" Â Quote from the film by Joe Church, Republican voter when asked, if republicans have done what they promised him when they got into office.
Â"I really donÂ't know.. The way I was brought up..to vote democraticÂ" Â Quote from the film by a Democratic voter on the street when asked, why he considers Democrats liberal and what they had done for him.
Documentary also features Michael Badnarik (Presidential Candidate 2004- Libertarian Party), Daniel "Digger" Romano (Green Party Candidate - US Senate 2002), Tamara Millay (Libertarian Party Candidate - US Senate 2002) among other candidates.
More information and clips from the film can be viewed at http://www.RunningAgainstDick.com/
The film will be distributed on DVD by Chicago based SonicWave Intl. domestically and will hit the shelves of online retailers in the first week of November, 2004.

Walking through my local shopping centre today I overheard a woman hissing into her mobile " I gave you the key so you could come round and use the computer, if I catch you rooting through Debbie's knicker drawer again you'll be barred" I'd have loved to know what the full story was!
LOL!!!! I think most men would be disappointed by women's knicker drawers. Mine comes complete with empty paracetamol packets, a collection of blunt pencils and impressively, three electricity timer switches. I've no idea why I needed three or why they now live in my knicker drawer. To continue the knicker theme, before I left home my bedroom was at the front of the house. I would get all the people walking back from the pub going past my window. I'd only ever hear a snippet though! The best value were a notorious couple who lived in the next road called Carol and Robbie. They were colossal drunks and when hammered would batter hell out of each other. No one ever intervened because the next day they would be holding hands..Anyhow one absolute humdinger involved Carol trying to aim her stiletto heels at Robbie's face, he pushed her into a transit van, she slid down the side of the van screaming " What was I supposed to do, piss me knickers in the middle of the road?" I spent the next hour or so lying there with tantalising images of all the places Carol may have done a wee en route from the pub . I fervently hope it was the memorial fountain opposite the pub. Edit- OMG I should clarify it was a memorial to some rich Victorian bloke not a war memorial!

I have my first day at college soon and I really don't know what to wear. I would like to look nice but not overdress just for college
Just wear basic clothes. It's college - not a fashion show. I too attend Sixth Form in September and I know to just wear simple yet comfortable clothes. Here, I'll put an outfit together for you. I don't know your style preference, but here you go. ----------------------- Top - http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41kZDiYtAyL._SX342_.jpg A nice simple blouse top Bottoms - http://images.newlook.com/is/image/newlook/womens/jeans/skinny-jeans/34in-light-blue-supersoft-skinny-jeans/269681044?$prod_details_hero$ You could also maybe throw a little cardigan over! A) http://www.purpless.co.uk/215-426-home/waterfall-cardigan-4008-beige.jpg ---------------------- Shoes. It's entirely up to you. I think a nice pair of white or blue Converse/Vans would go perfectly with that outfit. They're flat shoes. So it keeps the outfit girly looking. Or, if not. Then a basic pair of ballet flats. I play in a court what looks like really old. Bad bounces on 60% of places. It's rarely maintained now and by 'maintained' I mean cleaning the leaves that fall there. Do you think it would screw my new tennis shoes ?
Nah man it wont dont worry. I used to play on a bad tennis court too and my shoes were fine. The only thing is that if it isn't level then u might scrape your shoes on the side as you run and will be dangerous as you could fall. But other than this there really isn't much of a difference on your shoes.

i made the middle school basketball 8th grade. I was sixth man. I am 5-10 who plays center/power forward. What do the coaches look for in freshmen basketball. I really want to make the team. Every one who made the team in middle school is going to tryout next year. Right i am in 8th grade and i have the whole summer to prepare. What should i work on doing?
1 Find out when tryouts for your high school basketball freshman team starts. Once you have the date begin preparations. Spend the summer before high school playing as much basketball as you can. 2 Hone your basketball skills by practicing shooting, dribbling, passing and footwork. Participate in pickup games and work on the fundamentals alone. Remember that coaches look for good shooters and players with defensive skill. 3 View instructional videos or read books that can give you basketball tips. Sometimes one tip such as how to defend the post can make the difference in making the team. 4 Arrive at tryouts early and talk about basketball techniques with other players while you warm up. Coaches favor players who focus on basketball both on and off the court. 5 Give 100 percent effort when running plays, working drills and passing techniques. Listen carefully and follow directions. Expend all of your energy during tryouts. 6 Be enthusiastic and applaud other players who make good plays. Coaches are looking for team players. Pass the ball--coaches appreciate players who can make assists. 7 Buy a good pair of shoes with the best grip like Nike or Adidas i like to get hyperdunks or nike airs they're the best and dont worry about Air Jordans i know they are good but its just high school nobody care. If you use all these tips you are likely to make the team i am in 8th grade too so im going to do this hope it helped

I would say you can't but the chinese used to do it. It's called foot binding. It was a custom practiced on young girls and women for approximately one thousand years in China.

Wear I live, it snows and rains ALL the time. You have to make sure your trousers never touch the floor otherwise they'll be drenched to the knee.... This means I usually wear skinnyjeans tucked into some sturdy boots. However I also need to wear smarter tops/blazers for my university. I wear either black or gray blazers. Anyone know what sort of boots to go with them so it doesnt look too... weird?
Wear a nice harness or campus style boot. With the blockier heel, you can wear them inside or outside jeans, as well as with nice skirts and dresses. Hope this helps. 100% scam. That is a fake website pretending to sell cheap merchandise. Any site that advertises merchandise cheaper than the official manufacture's website is a fake site shipping gosh awful crappy knock-offs or simply collecting cash and not even bothering to ship fakes. The pictures on the site look like the real merchandise because those pictures ARE of the official merchandise. Those pictures were stolen from the official manufacture's website. If you receive anything at all, which is doubtful, it will not resemble those pretty pictures at all. The payment options say it all, Western Union and paypal. The credit card icons are just there for show, that site does not accept credit cards, only anonymous cash payments. Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever. Paypal can only get your money back if there is money left in the scammer's paypal-linked bank account. Scammers know this and will immediately withdrawal your money and disappear. No money in the scammer's paypal-linked bank account means absolutely no possibility of refund for you. In all seriousness, when something goes wrong, what will you do? Send an email that is ignored and blocked? Send chat requests until you are ip banned? Call internationally and speak fluent Chinese? The UPS, TNT and DHL icons are there only to take up space, that site only ships with EMS, the Chinese post office, good luck getting the "tracking number" they give you to work on the EMS website. You will need even more luck trying to contact EMS when your tracking stops and your "package" is lost somewhere. You could then be really lucky, your "package" is discovered, seized by "customs" and all you need to do is pay even more money via Western Union or moneygram to the "custom's official" who uses a free email address just like that site has a free email address as its contact information. Free email addresses are easy to open and close completely anonymously. That site is NOT listed on the one and only official UGG Australia website as an approved affiliate website so it is definitely selling fake UGGs or just collecting cash and not bothering to ship fakes.

If you want latest season, check out Steve Madden. I love my pair, and they were like $100. But, if you're trying to catch a deal, I recommend Century 21 in the Financial District. They are building one on the UWS, but for now, take a subway down to Century 21, try to make it through the crowds, and see if you can get a deal.

I need some addresses of the shops that sells relly high "high-heels" shoes. 16cm+ heel sandals without platform. Please provide detailed address because we will get there physically. If the store has a web site, that would be great. Thanks
Did saw some shoes selling quite high heel shoes at this Toa Payoh Central. (more then 10 shops in total selling shoes), you can try your luck in searching in that area. If not, can go to Bugis Village, but worry that the price might be a bit higher :P

Picture this: Alongside a somewhat busy County/country road there lies a lone high-heeled shoe. (black velvet, silver trim, peek-a-boo toe) Sitting upright and parallel to the road. It's located about 25 feet from the road in a grassy area where local hunters park their vehicles seasonally. However, there is not a current open hunting season during the appearance of said mystery shoe. Said shoe is seen in different positions over a course of a few weeks; but even after it had been knocked down and lying flat, it's seen to be standing upright again, parallel to the road so you can see the entire shoe. Keep in mind that although there are no homes near said grass area, this is not a secluded area where couples are likely to sneak off to and 'get busy'. In your opinion, why/how is that lone shoe there?
A group of 5 recently graduated students is taking a road trip. They've been planning this for several months now, and decided they would leave 3 days after the last day of school. Eager to go out and explore the world, one of the students borrow his uncle's kombi van. Whilst on the road, a few kilometres down (in the town) from the said area where, a high heel shoe was found lying by the side of the road. The origin of this shoe comes from a couple, who were walking along the street at the time. The couple was underage, and had been drinking. A policecar came up to the couple and asked if they were intoxicated. In the frenzy of being caught and being sent to boarding school by her overly christian parents, she ran off, kicking off her shoes in the process. The shoe then laid there, whilst the group of teenagers walked along the main street of the town, they found this shoe, and decided to take it with them. That night, they stayed in the kombi van in the town. Whilst delibirating over the origin of the shoe, one of the students wanted to hold it, but the other, arrogant at least, decided they did not want to share their find with any of the others. After constant attempts to snatch the shoe, the student with the shoe started running out, and was being chased by the other lot. They were running for about 1km when they came accross a hitchiker walking along the street. The hitchiker in his nievety, tackled down this particular student, believeing they had stolen something of the rest of the group. The said student then hit his head on the gravel of the road and became unconscious. The shoe was then left at that place, whilst the group (including the hitchiker) went to hospital. As the group soon foumd out, the hitchiker had quite a few unorthodox ideals. The group sat by the bed side of the person for a few days, until he got well enough to talk and eat properly again. In the mean time, the hitchiker had gone back to the street to get a lift. Whilst on that same street, he saw the shoe again, and decided to keep it, as everyone else had forgotten about it. However, hitchiking whilst holding a shoe was not a very good idea, as people thought of him as a bit crazy. The police had received calls about this crazy man walking along the streets and thus arrested him for "public disturbance". Again, the shoe was dropped on the ground. A couple of days later, the couple which had originally owned the shoe were walking along that very same street. Though her parents found out about it, she decided to run away and life with her boyfriend. She had a new sense of rebellion about her and wanted to take it to the most extreme. Whilst on this street, she found her shoe, which she had cleasrly remember that she kicked off (as it was one of her favourite pairs). In fact, she picked it up and took it with her. In an act of rebellion, she went into the farm which was next to them, and decided to try and steal the tractor. This was the idea of the boyfriend who thought it could be some fun. She went in there, placed the shoe on the floor and rode it straight out, crashing into a stack of hay. She quickly ran off with her boyfriend, hoping to seclude what she had just done. At that time, the farmer had heard the loud crash outside and went to have a look at what happened. He found the shoe, and assumed that a girl/woman must have been there. The next day, whilst in town, he asked around to see if there were any new people in the town who may have caused disruption. Of course, all the townspeople knew about the grad students who had recently come into the town. They also told him about what had happened and that they were in hospital. He discovered them and went up to one of the girls of the group and started accusing them of trying to steal his tractor. They said that was not true, of course, but they recognised the shoe and told him that they had found it on the side of the road several days earlier. The farmer gave up, and decided to let them have the shoe again. The hitchiker, who had been detained, was now released on bail by a relative that lived a couple of towns away. His relative however, was in the same hospital as the students, and was getting ready for heart surgery. Unfortunately, there were complications during the surgery, and he decided to say goodbye to his relative, whilst also catching up with the students. Whilst telling them what had happened, he noticed the shoe. He thought about how it was the shoe that had made him go to jail, and possibly made the last thought in his relative's mind negative towards him. He asked to take the shoe, which the others obliged (as it merely reminded them that their friend had become unconscious). He walked up to the place where he was hitchiking at the start, and decided to stand it up there, as a memory for what had happened in the past few days. On numerous occassions, passerby's picked up the shoe to wonder how it was standing upright, and on each of those occassions, put it back in the exact same spot. The students then went further on their trip, crashing the kombi on 2 occassions which resulted in them having to go back by plane. The hitchiker hitchiked up to the next major city, where he found a lovely wife and had 3 kids. The couple had decided to run away to Canada where they started their own bakery franchise and the farmer had a large crop that year, before succumbing to a long term heart condition.
Susan asks…
Can someone give me their opinion on this poem. If there are any errors or suggestions please let me know. I would really appreciate it. Here is the topic:DESCRIBE A PERFECT DAY-NOT THE ONE YOU'D HAVE IF YOU WERE RICH AND FAMOUS, BUT THE ONE YOU COULD HAVE THIS SATURDAY OR TUESDAY. WHAT DAY OF THE WEEK WOULD YOUR PERFECT DAY FALL ON? WHAT WOULD YOU DO SEE, EAT, READ, WATCH? Here is the poem: My perfect day would fall on a Saturday I would spend it with my best friends It is the perfect time for me to play So that the fun never ends I would visit the amusement park And eat the largest hot dog to ever exist With onions, ketchup, chili, relish, and mustard It's a snack no one can resist I would see my favorite celebrities And spend time with them at the mall They would give me their phone numbers afterwards So that I can later give them a call I would be reading a book about romance or fantasy Anything grabs my attention It could be about vampires, dragons, wolves, or fairies With some comedy, mystery, or even suspension I would watch my favorite shows on television Such as Full House and America's Funnies Home Videos By laying in the couch with a large bowl of ice cream Of vanilla and chocolate with large chunks of Oreos I wouldn't have to do any homework And I would visit the movie theatre at night I will be traveling in a long, black limo And wear the highest heels that fit just right My perfect day would be the greatest day ever But when it is time to go home and sleep I will have my favorite band playing for me by my side Instead of me just counting sheep It is homework.
I would say this poem isn't that great. It needs to make the reader feel something. With this, it just feels like a student wrote it to get their homework done and handed in. Edit: No matter if it IS homework... A good poem would not sound like it is.

I wear an 8 in women's but when I kids boys shoes I buy a 7, so I'm guessing you'd probably wear a 6.5.

I'm not heavy or obese, But I do have a little weight to me. I am definetly not skinny or stick then, Just average I guess. Like Topanga was from boy meets world. How do I pull off cute uggs, Or sexy high heeled boots when I'm not skinny? And also short.
I really don't understand your question, because I see even obese woman rocking hot shoes and boots. I think you're probably being way too hard on yourself. But the main thing is just to dress to flatter your own shape, and try to remember that stick thin and skinny women are sitting at home trying to figure out how to pull off looks that average women with curves can wear. Average women look much sexier than sticks. >

How can one be head over heels when your head is already over heels?
It means your ego boundaries have been relaxed to the point that your true love can do no wrong, the world is perfect, and the dog didn't just poop on the carpet. Head over heels is another way of saying that what you used to think was reality is now stretched in another direction so that what used to be true is not, and what used to be false is now true.
Lisa asks…
i'm not too far from being 25 and I can't help but I always go head over heels
I'm almost 27 and I do the same shit. It sucks. If I didn't put my heart out there it wouldn't get stepped on so often. Chemical imbalance? :) 'luck.
