Donna asks…
Why do men love high heels? and why do women wear them?
Our pick of the answers:
High heels may make some women feel stronger, taller and less frumpy than flats. You may not know this, but there are one or two females out there who are displeased about their weight vs height ratio. It's true. So, in the mind of these one or two women, they feel that wearing high heels will make them appear to be taller = weigh less/slimmer/leaner. Wearing high heels will emphasize calves, elongate the legs, and also lift the bum..which are important to one or two women out there..and the males who love them. But (in my opinion) flats and even flip flops..in fact, being barefoot, can be just as cute as a pair of black, patent-leather, Jimmy Choos, with a snip-toe and a four inch straight heel..well, almost. Check it out: Scientists discover why we wear high-heels: http://thebeautybrains.com/2008/01/22/scientists-discover-why-we-waer-high-heels/ Polish scientists conducted a statistical study that was comprised of both men and women. Both were shown a multitude of women..different shapes, sizes, weights, heights, genders and ages. They were asked to reveal which women were aesthetically more pleasing/more attractive. Some of the women were considered below average height (average height being 5'4") and some were taller. These women wore varying heel heights and the study revealed that the majority of people find a longer leg is more attractive. The attractiveness appears to be based on the length of the legs, in proportion to the length of the torso. Those with 5% longer legs (whether this was natural, or by use of wearing a high(er) heel) were considered more attractive to both men and women, according to this study. The longer and leaner (and in most cases), the more toned the legs were, the more attractive people in general found the person. The study also revealed that what was considered "too long" of a leg was not considered attractive to the subjects of the study. Cosmetic surgery (in my opinion) hit a new low when cosmetic surgeons developed a surgery that will elongate a woman's legs by way of a very time consuming and painful surgery. Large metal rods are surgically implanted in the knees of the subject and over time the leg will be forced to grow longer. Looks very painful..but I suppose that if one is overly concerned with feeling 'shlumpy' because of their diminutive size, or they simply feel too short to be respected or paid attention to, then wearing high heels is a less expensive and far less painful way of appearing to be taller and leaner.
Mary asks…
Men: why do you like a woman in high heels?
I wore high heels over the weekend for the first time in YEARS (red, ankle strap,3-4 inches) and had more men hit on me in one 5 hour evening out than I would in a week. What's the dealie? I cld say it was a function of the dress I was wearing which was hot, and I did receive that general compliment, however, most of the focus was directed towards my lower half, and had something to do with feet or legs! (nevermind the expensive perfume I had on, the flawless skin, or the effort, time, and money spent at the salon) What gives with the heels??
Our pick of the answers:
High heels flex some muscles in your calves that show sexual perkiness, or readiness. It appeals to a lot of men. I personally don't like high heels, however.
