Maria asks…
Can I carry a 6 inch blade in Minnesota?
I like to carry a knife in my pocket, usually just carrying a spring assisted or butterfly knife with a blade about 3.5 inches; but I just ordered a new spring assisted stiletto knife (not a switchblade) that has a 6 inch blade so I'm wondering how it would be carrying it in public. I never take my knives out in public and all my pants have deep pockets so it would stay hidden unless I took it out.
Our pick of the answers:
No sir, in Minisotta, the limit is 4''; there is no state which allows you to carry a 6" knife at all.
Sharon asks…
Hi I like to know stiletto knife not automatic or switched is still illegal in California?
How about length of knife to carry in pocket is that matter?
Our pick of the answers:
The only state regulation of knives (other in some specific areas like government buildings and school grounds) prohibits possession of a switch blade 2" or more in length. The only regulation of fixed-blade knives is that they cannot be carried concealed on your person. There is no regulation of folding knives unless they are in a locked open position, in which case they also cannot be carried concealed on the person. There may be some local (city/county) regulation, which may or may not be enforceable. ADD: California does not have any general prohibition upon "dangerous weapons." California does not have any law prohibiting double-edged knives.
