Your Questions About Women's Pumps Shoes

Sandra asks…

What's the difference between heels and pumps?

Our pick of the answers:

Pumps Pumps are the classic choice for professional women's wear. Choose a pump with a mid-height heel for a clean and businesslike look. A 2-inch to 2.5-inch heel is comfortable for walking. Choose quality leather pumps in a classic style for a shoe that will last for years and work with a variety of outfits. If your budget allows, purchase a new pair of pumps occasionally, opting for a trendier heel shape or details to keep your look fresh. Chunkier heels can still work well with a pump and may be more comfortable. Heels High heels remain the elegant choice for evening wear. While a very high strappy heel is beautiful and sexy, the appeal is lost if the shoe is uncomfortable and makes walking difficult. When choosing high heels, be sure that you can comfortably walk in the shoe. If you dislike very high heels, a kitten heel offers a pretty and practical alternative. Chunkier heels have been a favorite among women and can be quite appropriate for evenings out, especially in a dressier material or if accented with a pretty peep toe or other detailing.

Laura asks…

Why do women's bodies get ruined during pregnancy?

My big brothers wife just had a baby boy and she says that her body has been ruined but she doesn't blame the pregnancy she blames my brother lol. Why is it that being pregnant has such a bad effect on a women's body when its a natural process, even in films women always say it ruins their bodies?

Our pick of the answers:

Ahhh.. I just had my first baby about 3 weeks ago and, while I was far from being in shape before getting pregnant, this is what I'm currently going through: Due to the Relaxin (a pregnancy hormone that causes the muscles & tendons to relax/loosen to allow the pelvis to open up as the baby grows), my knees haven't been the same.. Pain cuz the tendons haven't returned to their natural tightness and sometimes it feels like they're ripping. Also I've come down with some pretty debilitating tendonitis in both wrists and my right hand is so bad that it has lot almost all ability of my thumb to bear weight (even a coffee cup, fry pan, baby's head, unsnapping my bra, etc.) I guess this was a variant of how other women come down with carpal tunnel during pregnancy. My feet and ankles have been swollen since giving birth (c-section recovery causes this I guess) so badly that they feel bruised to the touch and I can't wear anything but huge flip-flops.. They won't even fit in my husband's shoes! My breasts have been producing milk which needs to be pumped every 3-4 hours otherwise they hurt/cramp horribly and the little spider veins will probably never disappear. I'm wondering if the line down my tummy (linea negra) will ever go away. While not a diabetic, I did come down with gestational diabetes (caused by the insulin resistent placenta) and this now predisposes me to getting diabetes eventually... Lovely. As for my face, I have dark circles under my eyes from lack of sleep (average 5 hours intermittent sleep each day (only about 1 hour at a time). Yeah.. It's 4:30am now to give you an idea and my baby only sleeps quietly on a pillow snuggled next to me. If I stick him in the crib, he sounds like he's choking or in trouble (he's a preemie and his tummy is still immature so his gas cramps can be terrible) and my husband has to get some decent sleep to go to work in the morning. A better question would probably be, "what has returned to normal?"! Lol But geez, my baby is so precious and cute.. No regrets at all. :-) BTW, I only gained a total of 7 lbs during the pregnancy cuz I lost 10 in the first 2 months for whatever reason. I already weigh less than when I first got pregnant. Just a couple stretch marks near my belly button and my c-section scar with be very minimal (great doctor).
