Linda asks…
Does any one know where I could find some type of sock to wear in high heels?
I have diabetes and I need to take care of my feet. So obviously, the pains of wearing high heels without socks including bunions, blisters, calluses, and cuts are not good for my health. They don't heal with people that have diabetes. Unfortunately I wear a lot of capri style panty hose under my skirts, and I need something that I can wear in my mary janes and my pumps that won't show, but will protect the bottom of my feet. Any suggestions?

Helen asks…
Why is it that when someone stops taking anabolic steroids the bulky muscles disappear?
why don't they stay pumped up and muscular?
Our pick of the answers:
Simply put -- Lower turnover of protein synthesis and an overall muscle mass's anabolic rate lowering below the natural catabolic rate of the bodies metabolism. Anabolic steroids accelerate the muscle protein turnover. They increase both anabolism and also catabolism. As the former is boosted more than the latter, your muscle mass increases. I know that we are constantly told that steroids are anti-catabolic. This is simply not the case. Nor do they block the cortisol receptors located inside our muscles. If you don't understand how steroids work, there is no way you can prevent the loss of mass when you go off them. Whenever our muscles are exposed to too much androgen, the number of testosterone receptors rapidly diminishes. On top of this, the receptors left lose some of their ability to trigger the anabolic process. You could say that the muscles become testosterone resistant as an analogy with the insulin resistance associated with the early phase of some diabetes. By the same token, whenever our testes are exposed to too much androgens, their own production of testosterone lessens. This process is the HPA-Testicular axis. It is basically a feedback loop between the brain and the testicles. ( A similar but less severe process can happen with womens hormones..) -- at any rate .. After the 'cycle' of steroids the bodies OWN production of testosterone is lower than it normally is because of the steroids. (The body lowers its own production because the body can't distinguish outside hormones from endogenous). So the body thinks there is too much production going on and sends signals to lower it.. But the steroids keep it high, so the body continues to send signals to lower and as a result the body produces very little. Then a person gets off the steroids and there isn't even the normal level of hormones to maintain muscle mass. So there is a double effect. Now, someone who is very familiar with the chemistry and methods of what to take and when can keep a portion of muscle mass gained from steroid use after they stop but not all of it. Often people go off steroids and stop working out all together because they are demoralized with working out hard and getting weaker due to the lack of steroids. This is common. Those who stop and keep working out will remain large and muscular.. Just not 'as' big as while using the steroids.
