Your Questions About High Heels Without Heel

Lisa asks…

Can someone with high arches wear heels?

I have somewhat unusually shaped feet. I have wide toes and an arch that goes up to the side wall of most of my pumps and ballet flats. What should I do? If I go up a size, my heels slip out the back.

Our pick of the answers:

I have high arches too. I can wear heels but it takes some time to shop to find shoes that are for narrow arches. I have had luck at Charlotte Russe. You can try there. I can wear some of their flats and heels without much trouble. If you find a boot you like and it's a tad too wide put in inserts for high arches. That is kinda hard for strappy heels though lol. Also DSW has many brands so they sometimes carry ones that are good for my feet. You just have to look around and try them on. Look on the bottom for boots. If the sole is wide then they probably won't fit.

Sandra asks…

First time in high heels?

I'm going to a formal dinner at the grand hotel and I needed some high heels to walk in. I've worn heels before, but it was basically a square "pad". The heels that I got for the occasion are about 2 - 2.5 inches high. I know that you're supposed to walk heel first, not attempt for toe first, but I'm going at the end of July, so I got sandals. How can I keep my sandals from falling off my feet without too much trouble? If you have any other tips on walking in heels please post them!!!

"How can I keep my sandals from falling off my feet without too much trouble?" Did you get sandals that have a strap around the ankle - if not you should have, they stay on more easily. The best thing to do, is to practice wearing them. Wear them for a short while and take them off. Then put them back on again and wear them for a while and take them off. Don't push it to hard - give your feet time to get familiar with them. You shouldn't just practice walking in them but also wear them while you are watching TV for example so that your feet and legs will get familiar with the different muscle stretching/shrinking, without the pressure of walking. Once you are more comfortable walking around on carpet make sure you walk around on hard surfaces for a while as there is a difference. Also do a search on the web for exercises to stretch your calf muscles. All the best - enjoy the dinner.
