Lisa asks…
If Republicans claim that job creation is their number one priority, why are they devoting all of their time?
to passing legislation to limit a woman's right to choose? Was all of the wailing and gnashing of teeth about jobs just more pre-election rhetoric? "How would I know", your avatar name is utterly apropos-there are THREE separate bills to limit a woman's right to choose.

Our pick of the answers:
Because the entire GOP platform is nothing but obstructionism. Republicans are not the least bit interested in actually accomplishing anything for Americans. They just hate Obama.

Carol asks…
How is an abortion "born alive" policy controversial?
The South Carolina Republican caucus has a platform issue to pass legislation that would require "babies born alive after an abortion procedure must be saved.". How is this controversial? If a child is "born" alive even during an abortion procedure, how would killing that baby not be considered murder? How can this be justified since the argument for abortion is that it is the mother's body? Shouldn't a baby alive outside of the womb, regardless of the circumstances, no longer be considered a part of the mother's body and should therefore have a right to protection?

Our pick of the answers:
That is a common argument for abortion, and it's complete garbage. It isn't the mother's body--he or she is IN the mother's body. Where else would he or she be? All of us were IN our mothers' bodies at some point. We are humans--that's how it works. Why that is even a question is beyond me. The original Roe decision wasn't based on that, though. It was a matter of privacy, or so they said (they had to come up with something to make something so heinous palatable). I still don't get how murdering babies relates to a woman's right to privacy, but I guess I don't have to. If I were going to murder a baby, I'd probably want it kept quiet, too.
