Your Questions About New Heels Without Heel

Lizzie asks…

HELP!!! NEW heel pain (a bit different than my Plantar Fasciitis)?

I have had Plantar Fasciitis for a while but am now having additional problems. It is on both feet, but mostly on the right, where I had Plantar Fasciitis. It is on the side of the heel, on the pinky-toe side of the foot. It is also further down on the heel, near the arch. It isn't a problem until I have been on my feet all day, then I get to the point I do without rather than walk the few steps needed to get something. Or I have actually crawled to get stuff instead of walking. I am only 42 & can't stand the idea of beeing nearly crippled! So - WHAT IS THIS? AND - WHAT DO I DO ABOUT IT!?!

Our pick of the answers:

Maybe it's a spur on your heal? (doesn't sound like it, though. Those hurt more in the morning) You need to go back to the doctor's and tell him!

It is a possibility that you were compensating for your pain from your plantar fascitis that you were walking more on the lateral side of your foot. I suggest you invest in a heel cup, it is made of rubber with cushioning. You can place it it in your shoe. I also suggest orthotics for your shoes. Last, that you apply ice every night for about 20-30 minutes. If your pain persists for more than 2 weeks, go see a podiatrist as they can further treat your issues as they may be biomechanical in nature.
