Maria asks…

How tall do horse riding boots have to be in inches if iam 5'5?

if they measure 19 1/2 from heel to back top of boot, 11 inches from toe to heel, 16 inches at the widest part of the calf. Are marked size 8 womens. is that good or do i need some other boots?

Our pick of the answers:

You have to measure yourself to see if they will fit. First off, are you a size 8? If not forget it. If your size is larger then your toes will hurt all the time. If your size is smaller, then your foot will slide back and forth and get rubbing burns on your heels and sides of your toes. Next take a tape measure around your calf. Slide it up and down to be sure you have the largest measurement. If it is larger than 15 1/2 inches, you will be pushing it. Your socks and breeches will take up some space, so you need another 1/2 inch to be comfortable. Next measure from the bottom of your bare foot to approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the crease at the back of your knee. If that is approximately 19 1/2 inches, fine. If it is less, than forget it. The boots will cut into the back of your knee when you bend your legs. If your legs are longer than 19 1/2 inches to that point near the crease in your knee, you will be okay.
