Your Questions About Stilettos Nails

Lizzie asks…

What are the acrylic nails that get bigger at the tip called?

I'm refering to how some women get their nails done and the tip gets bigger as it goes out. I also was wondering if there is a proper name for stiletto nails (the nails that become skinnier & pointier towards the tip.) thanks in advance.

Our pick of the answers:

They are called flared nails. And yes, stiletto is the proper term for the other nails you described.

Carol asks…

Are long stiletto nails a new trend?

A friend of mine went to the salon and they showed her that stiletto fingernails was the new trend. She then came home with long nails that were pointy. Has anybody ever heard of this or seen or had your nails done this way before? She also said nail art was popular.

Our pick of the answers:

Well, not really. It's been gaining popularity over the past couple of years. I've gotten them several times, and they are really nice looking. You can get all of your nails done, but whats more common is to get one nail on each hand done in a stiletto style. Most people haven't heard of them because stilettos are more difficult to create, and not a lot of nail techs have the skill level it takes to make this kind of nail. But they are getting more popular so expect to see more of them as time goes on!
