Kobeyaki, A Fresh Approach to Japanese Food, Branches Out to NYC?s Upper East Side

Kobeyaki, A Fresh Approach to Japanese Food, Branches Out to NYC's Upper East Side

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 02, 2014

The Japanese fast casual restaurant Kobeyaki will open a third location in NYC's Upper East Side right on the heels of the success of the two other Manhattan locations, one in the Fashion District and another in Midtown. Known for their rolls, bowls, burgers and buns, Kobeyaki has accomplished what was thought to be a culinary impossibility - serving delicious Japanese food without slowing customers down.

The new Upper East Side location at 215 East 86th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue opens on Wednesday, October 1st. This will be the third Kobeyaki location in the three years since the first location opened on 7th Avenue between 26th & 27th street. For the last two years in the Fashion District and at Bryant Park the lunch crowd has sworn by Kobeyaki's Soft Shell Crab Bun, Spicy Tuna Roll, Kobe Beef Burger and their most-talked about Tempura Sweet Potato Fries. Now, Kobeyaki brings these menu items to a revitalized 86th street, which has always been a key thoroughfare in the Upper East Side, but now reflects a younger, hipper Upper East Side.

Kobeyaki is the brainchild of an entrepreneurial trio lead by Brian Konopka, a chef and operator with a storied resume that includes the kitchens of Le Cirque and El Bulli and his partners Brian Kelly, a former NYC fire fighter and business veteran who started his own chain of coffee bars and Salvador Barrera, a chef whose career highlights include cooking in Japan and running the kitchens of Japanese restaurants for more than a decade. The trio combined the words 'Kobe,' an area in Japan that's home to high-grade beef, and 'Yaki,' the Japanese word for grill, to signify that their venture serves top-quality food, hot off the grill, quicker than a sit-down restaurant. So even though Kobeyaki's dishes aren't as complex (or expensive) as the world-renowned food that this trio is used to crafting, they're just as fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

Office workers on the go can relish in the fact that they no longer have to resort to refrigerated maki rolls for their take-out sushi fix, as Kobeyaki churns out favorites like the Shrimp Tempura Roll ($ 8.97) and Salmon Volcano Roll ($ 8.97) to-order, so the rice is still warm and a wonderful contrast to the cool fish. Kobeyaki is also distinguishing itself from the typical Japanese restaurant by serving Asian street food with a twist. Kobeyaki has created a special bun, which is glazed golden brown and slightly crispy, on which to serve their sushi-grade Spicy Tuna Burger ($ 8.97) and luscious Pork Bun ($ 8.27), starring meat that's been braised for more than four hours until it's fall-off-the-bone tender. As filling as that sounds, the Bowls – made with noodles, brown or white rice or salad – are even heartier. Diners can customize their meal, choosing from a variety of options such as beef tenderloin or grilled "all natural" chicken or shrimp, as well as farm-fresh veggies like edamame and grilled zucchini. For lighter fare, the Tuna Tataki Salad ($ 9.66) packed with avocado and sushi-grade Tuna served with ginger dressing is a crowd-pleasing option. As an added bonus, these clean-tasting Japanese dishes are known to have plenty of health benefits, so you can enjoy a delicious and guilt-free meal.

For dinner, diners can linger over pitchers of draft beer, bottles of Sake and light wines from Oregon that pair well with the food. Service may be speedy, but the restaurant's cushioned wooden booths and long communal table make the place perfect for a relaxed evening meal. The restaurant also serves desserts like Cinnamon Buns with Vanilla and Sesame Icing ($ 3.25) and their Green Tea Ice Cream Sandwich ($ 3.25).

So whether you're looking for a light lunch or a leisurely dinner with friends and family, Kobeyaki fits the bill.

Jenny asks…

I often see David Beckham's wife Victoria wear a pair of red bottom high heel shoes. The heels are very high and the style is very fashionable. I also want to buy a pair of red bottom high heel shoes just like Victoria. But I don't know which brand it is. I just know her shoes are red sole. I once saw some red bottom high heel shoes in this website, http://shoestop10.com". But I don't know whether they are the same as Victoria's. I am trying to find a pair of size 6 candies. They'd be high heels, not low wedges. They have that faux wood bottom with the red band over the foot that's riveted into the wood. I can't figure out how to find them online. Need them for my Halloween Costume.

Your Questions About Ladies Shoes Size 12

Nancy asks…

Among the females you know, what's the biggest shoe size?

Larger shoe sizes are becoming common among women. But just how big? Among ladies you know, who has the longest feet, and what's their size? Do they pedicure their feet and show them off?

Our pick of the answers:

11 or 12?

Lizzie asks…

Ladies, what is your shoe size in closed-toe shoes wearing socks? Is it bigger than your regular size?

Some women primarily wear open-toe shoes, and base their shoe size on those. For a comfortable fit in closed-toe shoes (wearing socks instead of hose, with room to expand during the day, guy style) do you get a larger size? Please give sizes.

Our pick of the answers:

Size 10, but I would be more comfortable in a size 12...comfort is NOT a thing I consider when trying to look sexy!

Your Questions About Stilettos

Donna asks…

Can I use the Sirius Stiletto on an airplane/subway and recieve a decent signal?

I like talk radio more than listening to music so the Sirius Stiletto is appealing more so than an iPod. I am always on the go, be it car, airplane or subway and was wondering if I would have any trouble receiving a signal in an airplane, car or subway. Thanks for any help in advance. Ryan

Our pick of the answers:

The stiletto can record content from radio shows, not sure about on plane or subway.most metro areas have terrestrial signals broadcast along with sattelite signal..stiletto also switches to wifi when indoors.

Linda asks…

What is the difference between a stiletto shoe and a pump?

I was on a website shopping for shoes, and almost all of the shoes were called 'pumps'. What is the difference between a stiletto and a pump? Is a stiletto higher? Skinnier? Pointier? What strippers wear? I have no idea. Please tell me! :D

Our pick of the answers:

Stiletto means "little stilt" in Latin/Italian, so it refers to a very high (usually 4" and up) heel that is extremely thin. Pump is a widely-accepted generic word for any high-heeled shoe. I work in the fashion industry, and I must say that nobody here in NYC really uses the term "pumps" unless they are moms/waitresses/elderly/professional dancers/etc. Everyone says "heels" as the standard generic term, and "stiletto" ALWAYS refers to extremely high and skinny heels. In fact, "pin heels" are an even more severe stiletto!

Your Questions About Court Shoes For Women

Lizzie asks…

Whatever happended to the Iraqi who threw his shoes at Bush?

Did they hang him? I heard some women speculating that a guy who would do that sort of thing was probably hung. What happened to him?

Our pick of the answers:

A court convicted the Iraqi journalist who hurled his shoes at President George W. Bush of assaulting a foreign leader and sentenced him to three years in prison. Had he thrown a shoe at Saddam Hussein he and his family would have been tortured to death. The Hussein regime routinely publicly cut out tongues, broke arms and legs, cut off hands, raped wives and daughters, threw people off of buildings to name but a few of the punishments handed out for saying anything that might be construed as critical of Hussein. Actually throwing a shoe at him would have been much worse than suicide. If you think I am exaggerating follow the link below. Warning if you have a weak stomach do not watch these videos of the atrocities Saddam committed. They make anything we did at Abu Ghraib look like a child's birthday party. "Television news, understandably, will not broadcast such videos. But they are, nevertheless, an important record of Saddam Hussein's crimes against humanity that should be available to the public"

Your Questions About Shoes For Women With Big Feet

Laura asks…

Does having big feet attract women?

I am 17 years old and I am around 6 foot 6 and i have size 17 shoes. I was just wondering if women like it when guys have big feet or if it isn't very attractive.

Our pick of the answers:

Well I think boys having big feet is rather attractive depending on the ratio compared to the height, but seen as you are very tall then yes! Big feet ... Big socks

Maria asks…

why do tall women have big feet?

Our pick of the answers:

Not all tall women have big feet, I have a female friend who is 6'2, and wears a size 5 shoe, but I do think the genes for being tall and having big feet tend to show up together for a lot of people.

Your Questions About Women's Shoes

Lizzie asks…

What are the best and cheapest basketball shoes to get?

My sister is playing on the basketball team at her school. It is 4th - 6th grade and they are only playing games only against her school. She is in 6th grade, and wears size 10.5 in women's shoes, and this is her first year playing. What would be the cheapest and best shoes to get her for her birthday??

Our pick of the answers:

I think the 2011 Hyperfuse are a good deal.

Helen asks…

What is the difference between men and women shoes?

Particularly running shoes? I've been looking for a pair of good running shoes for winter (running on snow/ice) and now that I found the pair I'd like with a reasonable price and great reviews, it seems that the company only produces them in men sizing. If I were to convert my size to men's and order the shoe, do you think it would fit as well as a women's shoe? I have narrow feet and I'm not sure if all men shoes are made wider. I have to order online so I can't try them on first.

Our pick of the answers:

They're sized differently at the minimum. For example, men's shoes are a D width by default while I believe women's are a B. I believe manufacturers also tend to expect men will have slightly wider forefeet, etc. I'd also be careful about converting sizing -- you really need to try things on firsthand. If you buy online, at least make sure it's someplace that will take returns -- preferably with free return shipping. There are very high odds you won't get something you like on your first go, especially if you've never tried things on, and are just going off of review online. Your arch, pronation, whatever could be vastly different from the reviewers, and most people reviewing have been fitted for their shoes in running specialty store.

Your Questions About High Heels For Cheap

Sandy asks…

Need some comfy high heels?

My prom is soon and I don't really like wearing heels but I have to wear them because my dress is very long, is there any where I can get some leopard print comfy high heels?

Our pick of the answers:

Actually high heels can be comfy to wear - I wear them every single day (heck, I even went on an impromptu hiking trip wear my trusty 4" and not a blister in sight). But anyway, it's not about the make of the shoes which make them comfy, it's all about the fit. Go to a variety of shoe shops and try some on - have a little walk around and if the heels pinch any part of your feet - leave them. Buy the pair of shoes that you can do a short walk around in without them pinching. Then, get some cheap jelly heel inserts that you can get from anywhere (I got mine from Poundland and they work a gem), you just whack em in your shoes and tada! Lovely comfy heels that you can dance it all night. The jelly heel inserts look like this, you can get any brand and they don't have to be expensive or anything: http://d13z1xw8270sfc.cloudfront.net/origin/13746/high_heel_pads.jpg Another thing to consider is your dress, you said that your dress is very long so it might be worth getting shoes that have a strap that will go across the ankle, since it's less likely that you'll twist your foot or anything. Something like a shoe with a strap like this?: http://wheretoget.it/look/263606 But like I said before, have a look around and try on the shoes because you can always make the shoes comfy by making sure you get ones that aren't too small, and by putting a heel insert in them.

Sandra asks…

How to fix my high heels?

My high heels are very weak, the shoes actually bend like flip flops. Anybody know how to make them stronger/ more stable? thanks :)

Our pick of the answers:

Thats the usual problem with cheap low quality high heels. Often not the heel height is the reason for hurting feet but the instable and bending heels. Throw them in the garbage and buy good high heels if you want to wear them.

Your Questions About Ladies Shoes Size 13

Lisa asks…

What is a good packing list for a 13 year old on a cruise?

Im going on a cruise, and im taking my friend along, what should i give her for a packing list ? LIKE 90 DEGREE WEATHER TOO!

Our pick of the answers:

The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00PM, so take: -swim wear (at least 2), -shorts, tank tops and "T's" -sandals, -beach shoes, -your snorkel equipment if you have it, -sun glasses and sun screen, -lotions, -a cap or big hat for the sun, -a book if you are a reader, -your music player, -sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym, -good walking shoes, -your camera, and -other personal toiletries including tooth paste, mouth wash or lotions. Your cabin will have towels and soap provided, including pool and beach towels, and a hair dryer. It will also have a generic hair shampoo so you do not need to bring that unless you like a specific brand. After 6:00 PM they request that you wear "sports or resort casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, (like a bank employee), shirt with a collar, slacks, skirt, blouse, etc. You can still wear shorts and swim wear in the pools and spas but not in public areas like dining rooms and restaurants, show rooms, bars, casino, etc. Don't over pack , take clothes that you can mix and match tops and bottoms and plan to wear each piece twice. If you are going to the Caribbean you will likely be in shorts and/or swim wear most of every day so evening clothes don't usually get much wear. Your cruise will have a formal night or two when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the ship's Captain. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. You will not be denied entry to the main dining room if you decide not to dress up, as long as you are at least sports casual. But most people do dress up. A gown or party dress for ladies. Some people dress up both formal nights, some don't. We always take the formal stuff off after dinner and a photo or two and go back to casual stuff. - Its best to pack using soft-sided luggage because with space limited in your cabin it fits under the beds better if its not hard sided luggage. - Pack using the vacuum clothing bags (about $20 for 3 at Target) so that you can get more in your bag AND so that if the TSA at the airport opens your bag they can see what's inside without rummaging through your things. -Take a small carry-on bag for the last night of the cruise. On the last evening you will be required to put your luggage outside your cabin by about 2:00 AM so that they can start taking it down to the lower deck for offloading the next morning. So you will need a small bag for your toiletries and your clothes that you sleep in. - If you can take a six-pack of bottled water and soft drinks in your carry-on for your cabin. You will have to pay for both on the ship and its nice to have those handy in the cabin. - If you are taking your cell phone, MP3 player or other item that needs to be plugged in take an extension cord as the plugs in the cabin are generally not in the best places and there are usually only one or two. - Take a small bottle of hand sanitizer and/or hand-wipes. There are generally sanitizer dispensers at the entrances of restaurants, the buffets and dining room, but some times the are not there or not working. The sanitizer helps prevent the spread of the Norwalk Virus that sometimes occur on cruise ships. -If you plan to get into the pools or hot tub as soon as you get on ship (they will be open), bring those clothes in your carry on bag; you other luggage may not get to your cabin until much later in the afternoon. - Take a can of air freshener for your cabin bathroom. The bathrooms do not have exhaust fans. - Take a few zip lock bags of various sizes; they always come in handy. - Take some one dollar bills (also maybe a few $5's) for tipping the porters in the airport, at the pier (they do not work for the ship), and they will come in handy in port stops for buying small items in the markets and at vendor stands; especially bartering places.

Sandra asks…

How do other women manage to walk in heels?

I am 24 and I have tried several times in my life to wear them. It's extremely painful and I usually end up twisting my ankle. How do women manage to walk around in them all day?

Our pick of the answers:

Practice, and you start LOW and work UP. Too many women try to wear a heel that is too high. According to a fashion maven in my past, the ideal angle is about 35 degrees at most, which means about 3" for a size 10 is about the highest you can go and still be comfortable. My Lady Friend is 5'11" and wears a size 13 and she can wear 5" heels all day long (and DOES some days, though most of her shoes are 4"), but anyone else with a smaller shoe size would be teetering on stilts if they tried 5" heels. The problem I think you are having is you are trying to go too high for your shoe size and THAT is why you are having a problem. Try 2" and see what that feels like, and then practice, practice, practice... At least, THAT is what my Lady Friend told me about HER high heels and why she is comfortable on 4" or 5" all day at her office.

Your Questions About Heels

Lisa asks…

What age should i start to wear high heels?

i wanna start to wear high heels but i dont know what age to start at. im 11 now and will be 12 in 3 months. i have no clue what i wuld wear them with thogh. i was thinking skinney jeans?

Our pick of the answers:

Girls can wear high heels at any age as long as they feel comfortable when wearing it and they provide sizes for your age, though i've never seen a tender age of 7 and 8 wearing it. But i think, at your age, you are able to wear it including if you are able to walk with high heels. Health-wise, it is not advisable to wear high heels that often cause it has some negative impact on your womb or ovaries.

Carol asks…

How do you stop your feet from hurting while wearing heels?

My boyfriend loves when I wear heels. He wants me to wear them everywhere we go. That's 100% fine with me, but my front of my feet hurt so bad after just 5 minutes in them. I love heels. I just want to be able to wear them when I want and how long I want. Can you give me some pointers?

Our pick of the answers:

Make a deal with your boyfriend that everytime you wear heels he has to rub your feet later that night! :)

Legality of carrying a fixed blade in Iowa?

I'd like to switch over from a folder to a fixed blade knife for EDC (every day carry) The knife I'd use is between 2-3'' long. I understand that as long as its under 5'' its fine without a permit but does this apply to fixed blade knives as well? Please backup your answer with proof. I'm honestly not worried about it being too long because my folder is legal and is longer.

Cut and paste from a reliable source: "Iowa - Crime Control and Criminal Acts - Definitions. 702.7. Dangerous weapon. (1984) http://www.knife-expert.com" So, essentially a knife with a blade over 5" is considered a dangerous weapons per Iowa law. However, one can cary a larger blade made for hunting/fishing while actually engaged in that activity. One cannot carry a blade not intended for hunting/fishing even if engaged in that activity (i.e. Carrying a katana while fly fishing and claiming it is your fillet knife). Also, any knife over five inches "concealed on or about the person" is illegal. So if you have a fixed blade knife with a six inch blade on your belt and your shirt covers your belt, you could be charged with a misdemeanor. Usually, if you are not engaged in the commission of a crime this would never come up, but you could still be charged. If you were ever pulled over or stopped for something and they patted you down, this would be trouble for you. Your best bet is to stick with a small folder for EDC. However, to be absolutely sure, contact your county sheriff's office or local police department and ask them. When it comes to possible legal consequences, never take anything from an anonymous guy on the web as 100% accurate. It's your tail that will be thrown in jail.
